Hey all,
I am wondering if there is a way to reduces the "slop" in my steering?
Basically I am trying to reduce the amount of wiggle or movment in the steering wheel before it actually makes the wheels turn
Any ideas?

No. Probably worn out staring gear box and should be replaced. I replaced mine on an '04 with the same symptoms and that fixed the slop in the steering. Now with my '06 I may be lose to the same repair with only 55k miles on this truck. It is leaking a small amount of fluid over time.

^^ While that may be true, it's not the only thing that will fix sloppy steering. Pitman and idler arm would be the first thing I checked
There's actually a list of tests you can do for each front end component. Google 'test front end components' or similar for any chevy/GM.
I had horrible steering at 50k and while I replaced ball joints and hubs, I also replaced idler and pitman plus added the cognito support brackets- drives just like a brand new truck.
