Your opinion on packages

I went with the automatic Lux package and some bling but I opted to not get the offroad package. Do you think I made a mistake with no offroad package? I was trying to stay on somewhat of a budget and I'm in the city with a 16 miles commute to work. Will I still be able to head to Paragon?

What color did you get?

I bought the Lux w/offroad & I love it. If you are mainly driving in the city you probably don't need the offroad package, but if you plan on doing any rock crawling, you will want the locking differential that comes with the offroad package.

I'd skip the bling and put that money towards the offroad package if you are planning on taking it to Paragon. You can add the bling later.

I got the Lux, Off-Road, Manual.

I don’t plan on doing very much off roading (nothing that required the off-road package) but I was eventually going to go with bigger tires. I think the truck is too big for the standard 31’s.

5x33” tires alone will cost you more than the off-road package. Throw in 4.03:1 2-speed Transfer Case, fully Locking Electronic Rear Differential and its just cost effective to get it.

Do you really need it? No not really. To me it came down to a dollar and cents kind of thing in the end.

Do you think it is too late to change things up and get the offroad package, as my dealer has already found a vehicle and it will be delivered tommorow hopefully....I currently have a deposit on that vehicle?

I have the base package with 33 inch tires and have taken mine off-roadiing twice and have had no problems at all.I am not into rock climbing so I dont need the locking rear diff.If you are going off-roading once and awhile base is fine.If you are a big time off-roader and like the rock climbing then get off-road package.

I didn't get the off-road package because I have never been rock crawling and figured I would never be, but now that I've joined this forum, I am want to trade this one in for a new one that has the adventure package and an automatic trans. (Although I REALLLLY want to keep the manual, but I understand that's not the best thing to have for crawlin'). If I can still rock crawl with the setup that Surferjo ordered(the lux/off-road with manual), then that's what I'll get. Any opinions for this noob?

Sorry I dont know too much about rock crawling. You may want to try HERE (http://paragonap.com/forum/). These guys will def know if a 5 speed is better or worse than an Automatic.

personal experience has proven to me an auto is better for crawling up mountains, and rock crawling. with a manual, you have to ride the clutch to control acceleration, or you have a chance of stalling the engine. with an auto, you only have to control the accel. pedal with no problem of stalling.
might just be me, but i will never have another off-road vehicle with a manual trans.

you also get carpeted mats and extra rear left compartment(if you get monsoon radio you dont get it) with the adventure

lux with off road and roof works great for me, I dont offroad at all but am starting to, have been offroad before I odered mine but it is not realy something that I do did in the past.

But its great to know that I can now and will > base package is the adventure pack or so I thought, so that should be with locking dif. I could be wrong.

I got the adventure package, and have been 4wheeling in my H3 (about 500 miles on it). I had a '97 Jeep Grand Cherokee V8 with upcountry suspension and 31" tires--the H3 goes so many places my Jeep couldn't, due to locker and ground clearance. Plus the 33" tires make the H3 look more rugged and for resale the rear locker will help more than hurt.

My Jeep friends make fun of the H3 because it doesn't have a soild front axle, but they were amazed by the off-road capabilities stock. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>
