Are all Hummer dealers very arrogant?? We have been to two Hummer dealers in Connecticut and they are unbelieveable. The first one had three salesman BSing in the parking lot while we sat in the dealership waiting for some help. They saw us but kept doin what they were doin. After about 15 minutes of looking at the display models we went into the service department and found a salesman that knew nothing about H3s. After the sales speil he asked if we were ready to sign. When we said no, he lost interest and blew us off. Mention trade-in and they frown. The second one was just as bad. MSRP or nothing, no trade in, take what's on the lot. We just wish someone actually wanted to sell us a Hummer we want. Asking too much?

Those guys aren't worth your money anyways. There are plenty of great Hummer stores around the country (many have employees that post here, including myself). There should be some good ones in the Northeast somewhere, I'm sorry that you're having to purposefully find them.

Sorry you are having so much trouble and that I can't recommend a dealer up there. I truely think a lot of Hummer dealership don't care to work for your business because they are the only game in town. Where these two dealerships close to each other or hours apart. I know down here it seems that since there is not another dealer within a two hour drive they don't have to take care of their customers. The not going below MSRP I can understand but no trade-in, what the hell is up with that? Good luck finding a dealer that wants your business. I know they are out there.

Dealerships seem to be very hit and miss. Some are great and others are, just what you said, arrogant. I think some of that is a function of the fact that Hummer dealerships have such a large franchise territory, therefore very little competition. Many dealers know that most casual customers aren’t going to travel 200 miles to get a better deal, so they stick it to you. If you’re after a Ford, you know that there is always another showroom in the next town over - not so with Hummers.
I wish Hummer would crack down on some of the scumbag franchises out there (Medved - Denver, CO) and reward the great ones (White’s Mountain - Casper, WY). I’m always afraid that the bad apples will give Hummer a black eye in the minds of the more casual customers (which Hummer needs to reach, if they are to keep the line healthy).

I have to agree. All the stories I heard, the dealer experience is very hit or miss. Sorry to hear of you bad experience. It's weird to hear the bad stories cause the 2 dealerships I've dealt with were great, especially the one I actually perchased from. I thought the dealer was going to shoot me if I asked one more question but they always had time for me, always went the extra mile.

Hey Iceman,
Sorry to hear you had so many problems with the dealers in CT. I was warned about them before I started looking, so I went to DePaula Hummer in Albany. The Hummer sales manager is Gary, and he will spend as much time answering questions and test driving as you want. The prices are MSRP, but they don't try to stick you with extras. Since I got my H3 in July, they have had a Hummer Happening and this week they are having a welcome party for new Hummer owners. So far I have been very happy with their service.

I too bought at Hall Hummer, Virginia Beach, VA ( Terrence Jackson, sales rep ) and I'm very happy.

Strike up the band! My salesman called me at lunch to tell me that he is ready to take my deposit. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_razz.gif I am interpreting this as car sales lingo for "your order has been placed". BIG MILESTONE. I told him that I would be in his neighborhood on Saturday and I would give him a check. Next task will be to squeeze an order number or delivery date out of him. This is actually MAJOR PROGRESS in my H3 purchasing saga. Dare I start to get excited? I sure hope that the order was correct. Hopefully I'll find out on Saturday. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

If he did indeed place the order, you should be able to get an order number from him. If not, I would be concerned.
Next is getting an actual VIN#...then you can track its' build progress!

I also just bought from Dobles in NH. Nice guys. I worked with Mark and Peter. Mark pointed me towards a nice open construction area near the airport and told me to go "have fun." http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
I also worked with Al P. at Hummer of Norwood, MA, he was very nice too. But, I ended up buying at Dobles in NH. Dobles was very accomodating.
Btw, I aslo signed up for announcements via hummer.com and I have received 2-3 emails from them. Mostly announcing availability, new commercials, etc.

I ordered mine on 7/13 in came in 8/5. My dealer called and said " we got you all fix up, come and get it". So my next day off I go by the bank get my check and drool all the way to the dealer. ( looking for a mud hole all the way) I get there, no tint on the front windows' we working on that" no marker lights "thoose might be in in a few days" and the grill guard, rocker and under protection they are installing right now. I tell him to call me when it's finished. I go home and cry. He called the next day and told me the marker lights might take a month or so to get in, I tell him I'll wait. He called the next day and says, we over nighted the lights" I tell him to call me when it's finished. I have another beer. The next time I hear from him he says" we are tinting the windows today and installing the marker lights this am, when are you coming to take delivery???? I say "CALL
ME WHEN IT'S FINISHED!" arrogant?? maybe, bonehaeded, YES!

Hi Iceman,
I got my H3 from the dealership in Norwood. They were pretty decent to deal with and even took my GMID certificate. The day I went they had about 22 of them on the lot.

I have been a customer of Medved's in Colorado for quite some time and cannot agree with this post. I have been treated with respect and in a professional manner every time I have been there. I love my hummer and would not buy anywhere else. I also think that the service department is great and they have never let me down.

I posted the great experience I had at my dealer at this site. Billings, Montana -- a little out of the way for a lot of you guys, but a phone call wouldn't hurt in case they have something in stock you would want. Bet they would pick you up at the airport! They have a website also.

I'm glad that you are happy with them. Over the years I've had the chance to interact with Medved’s Hummer sales staff a number of times, and I have never been particularly impressed. The sales personnel have been largely uninformed, misinformed and generally unwilling to even interact with someone who has driven over a 100 miles on several occasions to do business with them. Arrogance is best word I have to describe my experience with them.
I haven’t had the chance to deal with their service department yet, so I can’t (and wouldn’t) express an opinion about them. Though I have heard much better comments from others in regard to service and warranty work. I have found that often what happens on the sales side does not necessarily translate over to the service department.

Before I chose the dealer I wanted to deal with....I'd been to several dealerships in the metro Detroit area. I got poor service from every dealership I went to. Poor customer service, salesmen swearing on the salesfloor, ridiculous offers for my trade in and the list goes on. I did find one dealership that I really liked. That was Ed Schmidt Hummer in Maumee OH. Their entire staff is amazing. Everyone is so helpful and friendly that it's unreal. Even though this particular dealership offered me less for my trade in than some of the others.....I feel that their customer service more than makes up for the difference. So needless to say that's who's getting my business....thanks Ben http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Lund in Phoenix is demanding $2000 for window tint/vin etching/wax job. Even or cars not yet in stock. Royal in Tucson is ok: web site not updated, internet manager could not be located, I wasn't informed about tube rails and tire cover added to truck after arrival, finance rep tried to sneak $3000 warranty in loan docs. First new car we bought in 10 years where dealer didn't throw in a freebie like rubber floor mats. Salesperson was nice though. Service manager wanted $1100 to replace the bridgestones with BFG KO's same size. We did get a free tank of gas though.

I am looking to purchase an H3 soon... I also live in CT. I went to Crowley in Hartford today to look at the vehicles and they had a "northeast adjustment" fee of $3500 tacked onto the prices. As soon as I saw that I just left - if they are going to gouge customers they are jackasses.
If you find a good dealer please let me know. I hope I don' thave trouble trading my car in (2003 honda civic si). I have a feeling that a hummer dealer might not want something like that... http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif sad... why does it have to be so hard to buy a car???
I think you'll be fine trading in your civic. I'm trading my Element and I've not had a single Hummer dealership tell me that they won't take it. The dealerships haven't always offered me a fair trade in value for it but at least they'll take it.

I dont know what happened to FLYINGBADGER, but I had just the opposite experieince at Bergstrom in Milwaukee. yeah, the sales staff seemed rushed and understaffed, but I got a good deal, and the service department there is awesome! I went out of town for a week, They arranged it, so that while I was gone, they came to my house, picked up my truck, serviced it, detailed it, and it was back in my driveway when I returned. Now THAT'S worry free service!
Kudos to Bergstrom of Milwaukee
