Anybody know what kind of range we get once the low fuel light comes on? I don’t usually let it run down that low but every once in a while it has happened.

My wrangler had a 19-gallon tank and I think the “Low Fuel” light went on when I had 18 gallons left http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Thanks.

I tested it, and my experience there was about two gallons left when it came on. I would have preferred coming on earlier.

It will usually hit empty 5 miles from the nearest gas station.

I was curious also, so I ran it down once until I heard the chime and the light came on. I had just over 2 gallons left and had driven well over 300 miles on that tank (mixed city and freeway driving).

you have about 2 gallons left. I usually get about 385 miles out of a tank.

385 miles?? What am I doing wrong? I can get about 260 miles before I need to fill up. I usually have 5 gallons left at that point. I can't get any better than 14 mpg all city miles sometimes only 13mpg.

I just finished my 2nd tank. First tank was about 10.5 mpg, second was about 12.5. I don't think I drove any different. Hopefully it is just breaking in, and will level off at the rate the rest of you have.

I drove 394 miles from Atlanta, GA to Cadiz, KY before having to stop for gas. Granted, I was sweating it a bit by pushing into the 22.5 gallons used range, but I was very happy with that mileage (around 17.95 mpg). I tried to stay at 75 mph the entire trip.

You've got me beat - I can't break 13mpg city and now that it's winter and I'm using my remote starter I can't break 12.

It depends a bit on whether you are driving an automatic or a manual tran. I have an automatic and i get about 13 to 14 in the city. I too ran mine down to the gas light and filled mine up. Found that it came on at 2 gallons. I also found that adding the SMA exhaust helped a little in the gas milage department.

HummerB,

I've been asking owners about their SMA exhaust systems, so if you don't mind I'll ask a couple of questions again. I see you are using a stock intake setup which is how I plan to set up my H3.

. Are you happy with the SMA exhaust?
. How's the noise in the cabin?
. Does it drone at freeway speeds (70-80 mph)?

thanks,
Steve

Hmm........

i am really pleased with the exhaust. great sound and a bit of fuel efficiency. i am hesitant to use an aftermarket intake as that is risky and pose small gains in HP and MPG. yea there is a little dronning at certain speeds but nothing that sounds like an IMPORT wannabe racer. if you are not listening to the radio etc... you can def. tell the difference but it is not bad. all together i am pleased.

I, too, am considering the SMA exhaust. I have a newborn, and am concerned that the cabin noise might disturb her. Any thoughts?

get the exhaust and buy her some tiny little ear plugs.

It seems for mine about 3 or 2 gallons left when the low fuel comes on. I get about 300 to 350 per tank depending on long highway drives or not. you should know that the fuel gage is hard to read, when completely fuel the needle on your gage will be above the full mark, and when the needle is at the half mark you will have more then half a tank

Somebody asked me the other day "How's your baby?" After about a minute she stopped me to say she wasn't asking about the H3...
