Hey all. Here's the rack I've been raving about. As of this moment it's unpainted. The guy who built it is a friend, and he does all the metal work, and helps mount it, but no painting. We're either going to have it painted or powder coated, not sure which yet.

Either way, this rack was a KILLER deal. It's 64.5" wide, and 6'long. The price was incredibly reasonable, and I love that I can even paint it pewter if I want.

I'll post after pics when we get it painted...we're just waiting for the weather to clear before we start messing with that.

that I left my front crossbar on. We could mount lights to the new rack, but I like the crossbar for ease of mounting the lights and wiring them. That's why I had a 6' length made, not a 7'.

That looks so cool, I would color match it to the front grill guard.

Wow, looks great! A couple of questions.
How much (if you don't mind me asking) did it cost?
What does it weigh?
How is it mounted?
Aluminum?
Tanks, and HO, HO, HO

Hi

mounts are the Thule mounts made for the Hummer H2. They fit inside our channels, and are a breeze to put together. You can buy them online or anywhere that carries Yakima and Thule bike racks. I chose only four mounts for mine because it'll never carry that much weight. The rack is rated for up to 500lbs, Since I'm only using four mounts instead of eight, I think the mounts are rated for 350lbs. He can manufacture for as many mounts as the user wants.

I believe that it's galvanized steel, but will have to ask him to be certain.

I got the "friend" discount, but suffice to say it was HUNDREDS cheaper than any that I've found online, and they're built to order.

He's a one man shop, but his work is awesome.

Look real nice. I wish I had been more patient, as the rack I use has only enough room for the spare tire. Your setup looks like the same rack Lynch Hummer is selling and that's what I should have waited for - it wasn't out yet.

although there's something to be said about a BARE rack (unpainted of course).

Kelley, great pics and indeed it is a nice rack.

Looks great. Are you planning to mount your spare up there? I'm wondering if it's built for a tire mount. This (http://www.yakima.com/products/dynamic/8007076_6.html) is the one I found. Here's (http://www.4x4hummer.com/images/1755.jpg) another one. Do you think it would work with either one of these?

Thanks for the pix!

And they have the Yakima mount for the spare. I'll check it out, but I'm 99% sure it'll work with this bracket. I'll know for certain when I see it.

You'd definitely want to have more than four mounts (like I have) if you're going to put your spare up there. This is no big deal, he can make six or eight.

My rack will hold 350lbs, but that's limited by the Thule mounts I used, NOT by the rack. The rack, with eight mounts will take up to 500lbs.

I'll post later today when I've confirmed about your spare bracket. /infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Can a Yakima load warrior roof rack (44” x 39” x 6.5”) do the job? They usually go for $150 to $275(retail).

He says it's too small for anything but his spare. I priced this rack at $275 (lowest I found) but you also require mounts and the crossbars...out the door you're going to be around $600-$650, and you're going to have a lot less room on the rack than I do.

But, to each his own. If this is ig enough for you, it will certainly work on the H2.
