I never see anyone post about how good the braking system is; which makes me want to bring it up.

If you go drive just about any other suv you will quickly learn if you want to stop fast you can not. But the H3 seems to have a very good breaking system.

Just another postive thing to add to the huge pile of things I love about my truck.

Well as I have only test drove for about 30mins at this point, I must say the brakes seemed to be just as good if not better than in my wifes Audi A6!

I hit bumper to bumper traffic in Austin on Tuesday evening... You are correct sir (in my best Ed McMahon) - the brakes rock!!!
I have no small cars embeded in my front end....

The H3 uses "4 piston calipers" at the front brake. A system e.g. Porsche uses on the Carrera.

VERY GOOD point! Even with the added weight of 18" wheels and 35" tires this baby stops! I remember when I put 325/60's on 20" wheels on the H2 I thought I was going to get into multiple accidents. These are great brakes. Thanks for bringing it up.

When I do drive to work, I'm in stop&go traffic and, at almost 2.5 tons, the H3 brakes are bettter than expected. I can stop completely without any anticipation!

My dog has hit the windshield enough times to know it's safer in the back http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Large rotors, and the four piston front calipers mentioned by Sharkster, plus a high-pressure accumulator (versus vacuum), makes for some good brakes.

I have driven alot of jeeps and the brakes SUCK!
I was impressed with H3 brakes, this truck stops on a dime and gives you 9 cents change!

Poor Boxer puppy....I am thinking about installing one of those pet barriers in the back so that "Gus" (my Boxer) can't try to climb over the seats to get to the front (where he is used to riding in my husbands truck). I dont want him to be able to get his paws on the leather in fear of him scratching or tearing it by accident.

Has anyone else used one of these in their H3 yet?

No way! My baby rides co-pilot! errr...ahh that sounded bad. Ken's not my baby!!!!!!!!!! I meant that she rides in the front seat.

I don't think you need to worry about claw marks on the leather except when the dog runs across freshly sealed asphalt driveway and jumps in....Oops! Bad dog! http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_eek.gif http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Be careful with the compartment between the front seats though...I think it's vinyl.

The truth is YES H3's do stop very well, but they have the longest stopping distance in their class, so realy it actualy takes it longer to stop then most SUVS. But it does stop strong and solid with out any dip in the front.
