View Full Version : Nav Radio Install - Dealer Help

Quick and to the point - Purchased and installed a 2004 Nav unit into my 2003 H2 (Thank you Klaus for all the detailed help).

In the process, I installed a front, side and rear camera, Playstation 2, DVD, XM (through the radio), CD Changer (through the radio as well), Clarion MSS1700 multimedia system and various other do-dads.

The radio comes up with Theft lock activated. Here is where I am at so far:

Dealer #1 : Unwilling to program the nav unit due to liability issues. Huh?

Dealer #2 : Tried to figure it out but unsure what they were doing...did something to power seat memory.

Dealer 3: They now have my H2 and I have a Dodge Durango on loan. They called GM Tech and downloaded the new program for the radio. They tried to program it and it failed, the error was "Unprogrammable".
They are unsure what to do or how to fix. They are calling the tech department for GM in the morning to get advise.
The radio still says Theftlock Activated and they are certain that it needs this program to run in my H2.

I am certainly aware of the theft lock issue. What I am worried about is Dealer 3 saying, sorry, can't do it.

Is there anyone out there that can offer me any guidance with this issue. This is the last stepping stone to a 2 week upgrade project and I really wnat to get this part taken care of. Any ideas on what I may pass over to the dealer would be greatly appreciated.

the tech must build the truck as a 2004 with the tech2. to get the relearn vin option for the nav radio. the nav radio wasnt available in 2003 so it wont give you a clear theft lock option. hope this helps.

Thank you. I just called the dealer and passed this on. They are looking into it. Did you have the same problems with your NAV unit?

Ever get it fixed? The dealer has to "lie" to the Tech II tool ans say it's a 2004 model.

I live in the Seattle are and the dealer(s) refused to do this. I eventually bought a brand bnew 2005 model TNR.

Got it finally. Took 3 days but only $188. I thought I was going to get cooked.

All is working now. I did give them a call and tell them about the 2004. An hour later they called back with a big thumbs up.

One more bridge crossed.

Still have to finish up adding the Playstation for the kids, TV tuner, One touch sunroof and a Super Charger. That will just about eat up this year's home refinance!
