Last night I was out running some errands. Stopped at Blockbuster, got out, hit the key fob to lock the H3 and nothing. It was like I took the battery out of it. It wouldn't lock or unlock, panic button wouldn't work. So I had to lock it manually but when I opened the door it chimed once like I had the keys in the ignition. So I locked the doors and went into the store. Walked out of the store and it still would not work so I had to use the key to get into the H3. When I opened the door it chimed once again. I drove home, parked, got out and everything worked just fine again. Too wierd! Anyone else have this happen or have any thoughts? Thanks!

I recall someone else having this problem months ago at a home depot. Had you used it there before? If not, there might be something there causing the problem like a cell tower or something like that if it only happens to you there.

I haven't had the problem with my H3, but my Vette's remote would not work if I parked too close to Home Depot. Can't explain why, but that is my experience.

i had this happen several times on the recently traded saab 9-3. the system worked a little differently than these, but it was wierd like that. (not at a home depot). maybe it has something to do with their security system or the automatic doors going into the store???

Interesting. I'll have to go back there and try it again.

I am also experiencing intermittent problems with my remote, some days it does not work at all, some days its fine, and that’s just in my driveway. Sometimes if I hold the button for about 10 seconds it will open. When I took it into Hummer it had not been working for 3 days and they ‘reprogrammed’ it for me, worked fine for a day, then didn’t work for the next 3, and has been working fine for about 10 days now.

Had that happen today. I parked on the street and the remote wouldn't lock or open the door. Did some shopping and it wouldn't open the door. Went home about 10 min drive, parked and the remote worked. I don't know where the receiver is in the H3, but it has been snowing here and maybe the receiver was blocked by ice or snow????

Ok, glad to know I am not crazy. It has happened to me twice in different places.

Per the FCC regulations on the remote keyless entry system, this system is on the very low end of the food chain. It cannot interfere with any legal FCC regulated device. Therefore, if you are in an area with antennas, etc., the remote is what won't work.
It won't happen that often, but in some areas, it won't work and the car manufacturers have no say in the matter.

I have narrowed this down to having my Cell phone charger plugged in, I noticed that my cell phone was on change each time and unplugged it and the problem went away, I have left the phone charger unplugged for a few weeks without further issue.

I had this problem, but mostly with limited range (had to be right next to the hummer to get it to work). It sounds stupid, but I hold all my keys in my hand at the same time and I think it was blocking the signal. I've got a metal hummer keychain that, if I let it dangle and just hold the keyfob up, I get much farther range. Now no problems! And I've never had a problem at The Depot (and I almost live there!)

I've also had problems when I have a thermoelectric cooler pluged to the rear outlet in the cargo area, remotes won't work when it's plugged in....
