Ok..so I know you guys are all 'guys' and you know this kind of stuff. My cute little H3 has the base stock tire and wheels. I should have gotten the Adv package with the larger tires. Oh well...

Is there a website or something that I can learn about what tires/wheels work with the H3? I'm 100% clueless when it comes to this stuff.

Thanks.

Uh...gee..thanks...was looking for a little more info. Most of the links just refer to places where one already knows what they are basically looking for.

actually there at the top there is a 'find' tab... all sorts of good info on the subject of tires, specially in the technical discusstion and customizing your h3 and in the photo's forums ... happy hunting it will hopefully give you an idea of where to start and what direction you want to go in.

Again..thanks. I know where the find and/or search features are but it's hard to know what direction you want to go in if you don't understand the language.

I'll keep looking....

well breaks down like this... tires are rubber and plastic. High mile tires are higher plastic content... great they last forever, but don't grip for ****, specially on ice and wet surfaces. Rubber you get better grip but wear out faster. Aggressive tread designs work great offroad, but are like sitting on a locomotive cattle guard hauling down the freeway depending on how aggressive the tread. Trick is to figure out what you want, to get the best of both worlds... leaning to what your priorities are regarding looks and functionality.

Google helps for some background information. Search for things like 'backspacing' or 'offset'

Here's some general tire info from the NHTSA.

Do you plan on doing any off-roading or rock crawling?

Jenyphur -

The OEM Adventure tire size is a 285/70-16. This is a 33" diamiter tire vs a 32" tire for the basic setup. Depending on how agressive you want to go there are a variety of options. Just remember the more agressive a tire, the louder it may be and it may have a shorter life.

Some people have tried out and had success with tires Nitto and Toyo tires in 33" sizes. Some other people have had great things to say about Pro Comp XTerrain tires in a 315/75-16. This is a 35" tire which will give you more ground clearance and a more agressive look.

Do a search on these, check the H3 technical discussion page and don't be afraid of asking questions. There are people here with TONS of experience (I won't claim this) and if you show that you did some homework before asking they typically can be a wealth of knowledge.

Good luck! http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
