View Full Version : My Buddy rolled an H1 on the street!

My Buddy rolled an H1 on the street! He was driving his friends H1 at about 35 mph he hit a mound of snow in the middle of the street. The H1 went air born and landed on the front tires, the jolt of the initial impact with the snow made him turn the wheel to the left so when he landed on the front tires the H1 flipped and rolled over crushing the roof and landing back on all 4 wheels!! He happened to be driving along side a Cop who saw everything happen. The Cop showed up at the Hospital and said he has never seen anything like that before and wasn't going to ticket him since he did nothing wrong. He ended up with 9 staples in his head at the Hospital!

That's alot of inertia to flip an H1 like that. Glad they are all safe. Post the pics soon. Good cop.

Good thing there weren't any cameras around or that would be on the national news.
Glad he's relatively ok.

Hmmm...I don't know what to say that's politically correct. But, PC never was my strong suit..

City streets? That's really dumb. And what did the owner of the H1 think? Will the driver pay for a new roof? http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

That's about 16k in damage repair and labor right there if the truck is a 1996 or newer. If it's a 1995 or earlier H1, you can't get the roofs anymore from AM General, so the truck will be totaled.

On the flip side, was he wearing his seat belt? 9 staples seems a bit excessive if he was.

I know, it seems unreal! Here is why I beleive him though. First he is a real good freind for over 10 years.
The H1 owner asked my buddy to drive his H1 to the dealer to get some work done and was driving his BMW 525 in front of the H1.
A Cop was driving alond side the H1 and saw everything, and remember the streets are not clear so this is why I tend to beleive the speed was 35. How much faster could you be going in a 525 in the snow along side a Cop?
I'm sure crazier things have happened. I am waiting for the PICS.
The owner has insurance and was in the process of selling it so he is not pissed.
Knowing my freind he wasn't wearing his seatbelt but I will ask.

Don't be surprised if the accident or a portion of it was caught on a nearby store security camera. It may make the news or the internet yet.

I don't believe this. Why did the BMW not do the same? It is pretty hard to launch an H1 completely into the air unless a really HUGE pile of snow or dirt is in its path.

Good point! http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
OK so anyone driving an H1 in the snow contact me first & I'll plow the way for you! http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
I had such a blast plowing people out it was well worth the price of the plow!
I was amazed at how many people were blown away by the plow on the H2! We all know the H2 gets looks everywhere but the plow multiplies that by 10!
If you get this set up you need a 10 inch hi-low drop hitch since the plow is designed for an aftermarket front hitch receiver which is nornmally much lower than our front hitch.
I'm still waiting for the H1 PICS but they are coming.

Actually, that video has been around for quite a while now.

The person in question did this trick all the time....

I doubt that it is a real H1. It looks like one of those fiberglass kits that they put onto a gm chasis.

It looks real to me. Just like the one I have in my driveway. Did you look at my rollover video? You will notice the underside is the same.

It's just that he rolls it with so much ease. It just hurts to see any type of Hummer get rediculed like that...

Yeah, I think its definately unnecessary abuse. The worst part is it happens in a parking lot.
