View Full Version : Warn light bar & PIAA 520SMRs

This week I ordered from www.trailduty.com (http://www.trailduty.com) the Warn light bar and 4 PIAA 520SMRs to go on it.
Installation is pretty easy although a regular wrench or rachet won't work on the top bolts mounting the light bar. I had to use one of the snake drive extensions on my rachet to tighten the top bolts.
After I get my Warn bumper and winch on, I think I'll have the front end done.

I like the look of those lights a lot.

The shackle doesn't move. It's kinda tucked in there where it is as it happens. Also, it seems to seize pretty well so you have to have some tools to get it off and I've been lazy. It took me many tries to get it off when I had the bumper off putting in the Cibies. Right after that I put it back on to use it again and I haven't given it another thought, until now. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
We do have several of these down at the ranch that came in one of those bulk auction sales things, so I guess I haven't placed a lot of value in it. It's not very practical and I a waiting for some new steel alloy ones to come in.
That's got me to wondering though, I wonder how many times someone has tried to run off with it and could get it off the truck. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

I like the look, but are they movable to different directions?
My Hummer Offroad lights may look like the are loose and moving around, but they are actually aimed in different directions so they cover a broad area in front of me.
Thanks,(looks good!)

Ric,
Yes, they are pretty easy to aim in any direction although I haven't done that yet. As a matter of fact, I haven't completed the wiring yet. I keep having brain farts and forgetting to do things like attaching one set of the ground wires, putting a fuse back in the right place, wiring the switch up right, etc. I spent 2 hours trying to figure out why they weren't working and realized I didn't have the grounds bolted.
By the way, I am usually pretty adept at things like this and the wiring harness from PIAA is about as simple as you can get.
Also, I haven't been to the ranch (not going this weekend because we're going to the circus tomorrow) to get them aimed properly. With 4 of them I am hoping that I can get them to cover well without them looking cross-eyed or something. I am much happier with this setup than the stock lights and that's to assume the PIAAs will perform as always.

I guess I could have snapped a few other pictures from different angles. That probably would have been helpful.
I'll try to remember to do that tomorrow.

That looks so alsome I was waiting to see what they looked like on your H2 before I went and bought the light bar and lights. Now I cant decide if I want the piaa lights or the warn lights I went to a local 4wheel parts place today and checked out some lights I wouldn't mind mounting the warn 210 on the side and the sp-160 in the middle assumeing they would fit. I guess Ill see when the light bar arrives. Looks great lets see some more pics.

Damn, I wish I would have known you wanted that lightbar. I gave one away 3 months ago. One of the guys at Warn gave it to me last year when they first made them. Could've been some karma points.http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Seth,
I didn't get to do some more pics today as the Circus was in town. I don't think there will be any issues with the 580s. There is plenty of room once you add the bar.
I get some better pics tomorrow, hopefully.
Looks great Paragon! That setup should put out some good light. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Now, damnit. I haven't even bothered with finishing the wiring, yesterday was a bad day, it was raining (somewhere), I couldn't find the camera, I was out of film, the batteries were dead.....
Ok, ok...I forgot. I'll go do it right now.

Paragon, looks good. But I thought you're into white vehicles -- what's up with your pink bicycle? Also, what kind of rock-crawling 3rd (& 4th) wheels are those? Looks sweet! http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Those are my anti-tippy wheels. I learned about those from when I owned a Jeep. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
Of course that would be my daughter's bike and it was either this bike or the Dora bike since we couldn't find a yellow one. She is still waiting for when I am going to bring home a yellow H2. For the past 2 years she somehow continues to think the white one is temporary. But she is pumped that I am getting a winch on it. Seriously, ask her and she'll tell you that daddy needs a winch for the Hummer.

And the translation is "Here's Johnny!". Remember redrum from that Jack Nicholson movie, "The Shining."

"Backpack! Backpack!" over, and over, and over. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_mad.gif How long is that battery going to last anyway??
That kid in the corner is standing too straight and projecting too much attitude.
Yes, Dory.
As far as the battery goes, the boy is 9 and keeps going and going and going...

I grab my daughter and keep looking for the "OFF" button on her back. She will flat wear you out doing nothing but talking.

Love the look..
One question though -- I'm assuming this will not work with the SMA heavy duty brushguard due to the size of the tubing. How does it attach?
Thanks!

Justyn,
The Warn light bar only fits factory grille guards as far as I am aware. It mounts to the same locations as the factory light brackets.
I'm sure a local metal fabrication shop could come up with something similar easy enough.

Thanks, Phil -- that was my assumption as well. Can't beat the looks of it though, that's for sure.

I'm wondering if there is something that can be made to mount to the bumper itself?
(No Brushguard!)
I'm sure if we bump heads, someone can come up with something.
