Hey All,
Just got back from my dealer, they repaired a cracked wheel well from my Hummer Happening. Mechanically the vehicle is back to 100% (Thanks Suburban Hummer!)
However, they had to special order a new sub for my Monsoon system. I used to be heavy into car audio and while I have cranked up the Bass and Volume, I never got anywhere into the range that would blow a speaker, but in fact it sounds blown.
Anyone else have a problem?

Hey E,
That really sucks. I'm with you, used to be very heavy into car audio. Now I'm just heavy http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gifHave you looked at the sub enclosure? Is there room back there to do a new enclosure for maybe a 10?

I am having the same problem when the bass boost is up and the volume is louder. Guess I'll be going back to the dealer once more. They just replaced the differential which was noisy... now that's fixed. I hope they have the parts in stock.

Thanks guys!
In answer to your question, no I haven't checked the sub enclosure out. It looks really cool from the outside but the dealer said it is a pain to actually get into. I was thinking that if it was easy (say a couple of the standard body panel tabs, and screws) I would toss in something more robust maybe even an upgraded amp, however I think I am going to hold off.
I leased this one, not that I didn't have confidence in H3Builder, but I was leary about a first year vehicle and what my budget would be like down the road. If all things look good I'm going to buy at the end of the lease (or buy a new one) then start adding the toys!
Again, thanks for all the info! Great Gang, Great Vehicle!

It is a pain, rear shoulder harness, rear seat back, trim moldings and then the entire speaker/amplifier unit.

Hey guys,
I have an audio parts business and run into tons of people trying to repair or get better performance out of their Monsoon systems.
Here are the facts about all GM Monsoon systems.
For what they are they sound ok. Within 2 years you can expect the foam surrounds in the speakers to rot out which leaves and interesting dilemma. The speakers are 2 ohms and are wired in a biamp configuration. There are NO direct replacement speakers. So enjoy the systems while they still work but we all know there is plenty of space to stuff that 600 watt multichannel amp and new speakers in our H3's

I have no idea they ran 2 ohm speakers http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_mad.gif So where are you located and do you sell to the public?

Hey I see you are located in Orlando. I bought my H3 from Hummer of Orlando. No need to wait for them there are plenty in stock. I drove my Land Rover into the dealership at 3:30 on Sunday and drove my new hummer out at 5:15.
The funny thing about the story is I called Hummer Orlando and told them I wanted a base h# the response was 2 months if you order it. I went over to order it and there were 5 bases in stock.
Anyway I sell replacement speaker foams on my website. That is how people repair the monsoon systems cheap. http://www.wholesaleaudioaccessories.com

Hank,
I am glad you had a good experience with Hummer of Orlando. I believe you are the first. I haven't gotten down there yet but decided last Thursday that I am getting my deposit back and going elsewhere. Just pulled out my paperwork and I put my deposit down on March 18th and nothing yet. Now, I have to say the main reason for the wait is I want the Slate Blue, but they have been completely unresponsive to me the entire time. Main reason for pulling my order is that they will not except the GMID discount that I just received. Oh well, glad it went well for you. I am hoping to be getting groups together to go out wheeling if you are interested. I will also check out your site.

Hi All,
How big is the sub back there? Anyone had the enclosuere apart to look at how much room is?
I found some 2-ohm subs, but 10" is the smallest:

I don't know for sure but would bet it's an 8". Pretty much every factory sub I have seen are 8". I would love to put a 10" back there. Right now I am running 2 10"s but one would be great.
