We are considering a new H3, but are concerned about the new 5 cyl. engine and would appreciate hearing from owners about their reliability, as well as their overall satisfaction with this vehicle. Thanks!

Overall satisfaction = 10
Inline 5 = 10
Gearing = 10
Though some may complain about the power of the inline 5, I find it to be more than adequate. Maybe it has more to do with expectations of the driver.
H2 drivers complained about the lack of power as well in the beginning. Again, about their expectations.
I would buy another one if I had it to do all over again. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

I'm totally satisifed with everything on the H3, other than it gets dirty. I need a force field to ward of dirt, salt, etc. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

the H3 is an awesome suv. love it.
the only gripe i have is the window controls. they are not conveniently placed. Makes for rolling down the window awkward.
but who rolls down the windows these days!

I don't really have any complaints about the power and I tow my boat with it (3500 lbs). If a V6 or Straight 6 option was available, of course I would take it. My only complaint so far is ridiculous. Not enough storage, as in little cubbies and slots for things like change and cell phones. Stupid huh? but I got used to it with my old car. Oh, and the big complaint? No plug in the stereo for my Ipod.

I agree with all the above, plus I don't like the fact the rear seat doesn't fold flat.
All that said, I knew that before I bought it, I bought it anyway, I have zero regrets (well, except backing it into a tree, but that's a whole other story).
Can't think of anything else out there that gets the looks and attention - plus it's more than a mallcrawler! That's a great combination.

It's a kick-a$$ rig. Every time I drive it I fall in love with it more.
I've never lost that big grin I got the first time I saw one in person.

Great off road, fun to drive. I really enjoy driving it to work evreyday and it's been perfect for family vacations. Power is good around town and in mountians unless you want to run 80 up a mountian pass or pull a big trailer.

I love my H3 the only thing I find wrong is the visibility isn't that great all the time but I look damn good in it so who cares if you can't see all the time.......lol.

I really like the H3...Yes, especially yours Hollie!
The power is a little weak, but so is the power for an H2.
Other than needing wide mud flaps for keeping the sides clean, it's a great design, and would buy one if the oppportunity arose!

Was skeptical at first about the power, but after a few test drives, I bought it. No complaints. Yes, you give up some acceleration, but unless you like to pull out in front of people or drive like speed racer, then it should be fine for you.

I've had mine for about 2 weeks and having loads of fun. Its more fun to drive than my other car. The only annoying thing is the Heated Seat Controls need to be relocated!!! "What's up with that!" They installed it on the side of the seat when your driving cant see it, let alone you can get your hand down there because there is not much room between the seat and the door. And you cant turn off the heated seats while your driving if someone left the passanger ones on. BUT I still love it. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Power is more than adequate so far! Haven't tried towing a large boat uphill yet. I imagine it will give me some concern then..

Love mine so far. The 5 is more than adequate around town and on the highway. I just added an exhaust and cold air intake and it adds a little more off the line power. See if you can arrange an overnight test drive from a local dealer and spend a little time behind the wheel. Willing to bet that you'll end up getting one if you do.

I've had my H3 since October and I still love it. I feel that the I5 is just right for this vehicle. Plenty of power. I would say that the storage in the rear is a bit small but enough to get a bit of stuff back there. I do hope when they upgrade the vehicle over the next few years they figure out a way to make the rear seats fold down flat so you can have a large completly flat cargo area and not have that elevation.

Have my H3 since 11/3/05 and absolutely have no regrets. Some people write that the I-5 powertrain is sluggish. That is absolutely bull****. I have no problem towing my 4000 lb boat and trailer and accelerating onto the freeway in traffic and easily cruising at 75 to 80 mph.
Go rent one from Avis or Budget for a couple of days, then may your own decision.

Sorry, HIHUMMER. I'm not into that kind of thing. Maybe someone over on the SCION board is into that, but not me!

The most awesome vehicle I have ever had. Love driving it when I can get my wife out of the seat. Shifts less on hills than my truck with a V8.

I love mine, more than any other vehicle i've owned. The only thing I wish I could change is:
When I am cruising and I step on the gas, it downshifts too easily. I wish there was a way to change that.
