I also saw that Monster Cable can out with a similar adapter for the H2.

I just use an $29 I-device (actual name ??) that plays any Cd/MP3 player thru 1 of 4 FM frequencies...saves hundreds of $$$$. :-)

Has anyone uesd the Monster yet? I'm curious about installation and Performance
Does this new interface allow you to who hook up two auxilary pieces? I wanted to hook up an ipod and a portable sirius radio unit to the factory installed ('03) unit.
Can it be done? So far I have found you have to chose between one or the other.

Anyone have experience with the iCruze? When I installed the USA Spec Changer the harness had an extra connector. Does anyone know if that can be used to add the iPod or will I have to disconnect the changer in favor of the iPod?
Of course I'm kidding...., see the ":-)"

FYI - Bought a iCruze yesterday and read through the instructions. If you want to use the iCruze you have to disconnect your XM. I will not give up my XM so I am returning the iCruze today. Klaus, do you know if this will be the case with the USA*Spec as well?

From what I've read, it appears that the USASpec adapter will use the Ext CD Changer controls for the iPod, and the DVD controls for the AUX. Therefore, it should not interfere with XM. However, you cannot have a add-on CD Changer installed (like I have).
It looks like it will be the ideal adapter for a stock H2.
I can't believe how many adapters are coming out for the iPod. I own an Onkyo home stereo, and Onkyo sent me an email that they will have an adapter available in June that will let the receiver control the iPod via remote. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

I have spoken with Bob who is with USA Spec in Philadelphia. He told me you could have XM, iPod, cd changer, and hook up the DVD through the NAV audio system using USASpec products. I've been waiting for the iPod adapter for about 6 weeks and will be having it put in as soon as my local car audio place can get it.
When it comes to the cd changer, however, for me at least, it would be terribly redundant. All my CDs are already on my iPod. . .

Well, I hope you are right, but I don't see how the iPod adapter could use the Ext CD Changer controls while an Ext CD Changer is installed, unless Bob was referring to the IDX (In-Dash 6 CD Changer).
Time will tell.
Notice that release creap has started. The adapter was to be released April 18th... Now it shows May 5th.

Twenty plus years ago, in the computer business, we used to say that the release date was: RSN. . . Real Soon Now. It was originally supposed to be out 3 weeks from my first call which was in the middle of March. When I called back, he said they had a few issues to work out and it would be 3 more weeks to the end of April. I guess I'd rather have them get it right, but. . .
In thinking about what Bob said with regard to the cd changer, I think he said something like 'it will definitely work with our cd changer' and I know they have one for sale. They have a couple of products including one that provides additional aux and can be used to route the DVD audio through the audio system and I think something to bring the video to the nav screen. . I didn't pay too much attention to all that because right now I just want to get my iPod working.

Thanks Klaus, You know a Lightbulb just went on above my head! I also have the USA*SPEC changer and I seem to remember an extra Changer connection the the harness when I was installing it. Perhaps they have been planning for this from the start? I am curious as to how it will be controlled from the Head unit with a changer connected as well? Will it be another source selection or an extention of the CD control? any thoughts anyone?

Had my iCruze installed yesterday...love it! I don't have XM, the Aux input setup is fine for me. Here's what you get: up to 9 playlists with 99 tracks in each = up to 891 songs! Functions map to CD select keys as follows:
Disk 1 = next track
Disc 2 = previous track
Disc 3 = skip 10 tracks
Disc 4 = back 10 tracks
Disk 5 = next playlist
Disc 6 = Random shuffle on/off
The steering wheel control can be used to select next / previous track.
In the iCruze instructions it states that you get only 6 playlists, but that applies to a CD changer input. Since the stock Hummer radio headunit uses an Aux input you get 9 playlists.

Maybe I missed it but you can't do XM and the iCruze at the same time?

Do any of these devices beside the I-Cruz display actual data (title, artist, etc.)? If so, can they display it through the factory head unit, or do they require an outboard display like th I-cruz?

I dont believe there is any display it should look like the CD Changer display, Instead of discs you will have your pre-programed play lists.

If you mount the ipod adapter unit behind the glove compartment, can you get to it later without having to remove center console & dash again? (there are some DIP switches on the USA Spec unit that you might want to change later..)
(so I guess the real question is, can the interior of glove compartment be pulled out fairly easily?)

I can see that now.......DUH!! (glove compartment door drops right down after you dis-engage that "doo-hickey" on the right side.)
As respects the ipod unit, I've decided on the USA Spec unit after much, much consideration......the primary reason is because I want to have the full control of the IPOD unit so that I can pull down music "by artist" instead of playlists only.
The advertising for the USA Spec unit says that it will display text on the NAV unit if you run it through the XM channel..............HOWEVER, I have heard from an installer that it doesn't work.......ever!
No doubt, it would be way-cool if it worked. Anybody been able to get text up with this unit on their NAV w/XM????? (I have a 2006 H2 by the way)
