I just put a Viper 5000 in this past weekend. It has the remote start option, but I saw no point in spending more to put it in. I paid $360 for mine at a local shop. Good job, and the pager is damn nice...

I'm having a Viper 571vx installed in my H3. Its a 2-way remote so you get confirmation that the truck actually started. The remote start I have in my 4Runner doesn't have this function and sometimes I'll walk out to the truck and find that it didn't start. PIA... http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_mad.gif
This viper model should work a lot better. At least I'll know if the command failed. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

One thing to keep in mind is that if you get a remote starter that also does the power door locks. This will not activate the alarm that comes with the H3.You will have to use the remote that came with the H3.You will have to get both remote starter and alarm all in one.

I installed the Viper 591XV in mine. Like the one Ipedog is installing, the 591XV is a two-way remote with LCD so you receive confirmation that the vehicle has started. I've had remote starters in every one of my vehicles so far and this Viper is by far the best one. The range is excellent and so far it's been much more reliable than all of the other ones I've had. I highly recommend it.

i had an astrostart installed today
~$289
just does remote start
they advised me to avoid using 1 remote since they are a big company and have seen problems with the H3s due to their factory alarm. in any case, its installed an i love it. i have 2 remotes on the keychain but that's no big deal.
