I took my H2 to the ocean this weekend and happened to see another H2 there with a little lift on it. I mentioned to my husband that I thought it looked nice. Now mind you, he's been pushing me to lift mine since I brought it home and I have been adamant that I didn't want it lifted..so he is jumping all over this with glee! (That doesn't sound right...Lets say manly exuberance http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif ) He just called me from Les Schwaab and said that they are going to do a 6" Fabtech lift for me on friday. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_eek.gif I'm only running 37x13.50x20 Toyo MT's and I think 6" is too big. It will make my tires look silly. I'm thinking a 4" would look better. Anyone running either that has an opinion?

Christa, Phil has 38's with his Fabtech 6" lift and it looks great. After getting it done you can always sell your and get the larger one's later.

Thanks Ken, http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif My husband would love to put 40's under it if he could, I just worry about it being tough to get around in easily with that much more height. Our F350 is a PITA to manuever so I'm a littly shy of to much lift and tires. Does Phil have any pics on the board that I should look for?

Hey Christa. I know you mentioned that you have children. As a practical thing... how are they going to get in and out easily? When I get my Hummer, I will want to lift it too. However, I don't know how I would get my three dogs (tow Rotties & a Pit Bull) into the thing. I am six feet tall, and still wonder how I would get into a lifted Hummer, and how easy it would be to accomplish mundane tasks, such as getting groceries.

I think whatever lift kit you decide on would look great. I think that I would lean towards the 4", for the same concerns you have. I think the tire size would always bother me, since I would always picture what the bigger rubber would look like. I know other members said it looks fine, but I would imagine it looks better with the bigger rubber.

I am looking forward to seeing pictures of your ride. I love to see other cool woman, with cool taste.

Let me know what it is like to do normal activities with a giant Hummer. Until I get mine, I will live vicariously through you...

I find that a little running start, LEAP! and then grabbing the top handle (that's why it's there) helps.

Christa, don't lift it. You'll NEVER fit in any of the parking garages when you go shopping.http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Hey Christa - I'm with Diane here! Let me know how the lift works practicality-wise. I'm dying to get a 6" lift also, but hubby thinks it'll be too much of a PITA to lift the carseat up into the truck (who cares, not his truck!).

There's a guy that has posted here that had a 6" lift with 40's. I think he originally had 37's and then put 40's on and they fit.

You'd think if 37's fit stock that 40's would fit with a 6" lift.

OK, Here are some pics of my truck and my H2. You boys will see that I don't need a ladder. I'm used to driving the red Ford which is on 38's with a 9" lift. It does take a bit of a hop to get in, but it wasn't that bad. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif Diana, we have two Rottys too (love them!). we've used ramps to get them in and also just backed up to the entry, which is raised, lowered the tailgate and they hop right in. Getting them in and out when you're somewhere else is a different story. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif I'm only 5"7 and I didn't have problems getting things in and out and the kids are like monkeys so no problems there. The thing I didn't like with the Ford is that it is so long, and the turning radius so bad, that it was a PITA to get around in small areas. Especially if I had the horse trailer behind it! I think a 6" lift on the H2 would still be easy to do things in. Stacy, I don't think getting the baby's car seat in and out would be a problem for you. I did it in the Ford , not a problem! So go for it! http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
I think I could get 40's under it, but I just don't want to. It's so easy to get around in now and I think it still will be with a 6" lift. Anything beyond that I just don't want to deal with.
And DRTY, are you accusing me of being short, little man? http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Yes, Rotties are the best dogs in the world. I have to drive mine to the river every day, since I live in the city. It is a bitch to get them in and out. Diva jumps in on her own, Brodie, needs help, and my Pittie gets picked up too. Thank Gawd I am a gym rat, or I would never make it.

I had a CTS-V for a loaner and it rocked. It had a Borla exhaust that made it sound like a GT car. I terrorized the city during the time I had it. I SMOKED an M3(probably '04 or '05) and out drove some yuppie puke in his 997 Turbo. What's fun about it is that it's such a sleeper.

It ain't your daddys caddy anymore! 0 to 60 in 4.6. The LS6 produces 400 hspwr and 395 ft pnds of torque. It only comes in a 6sp manual. The V is not without it's issues, but if you want a true luxury muscle car, there is nothing like it! http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif If you'd like more info on the V go to this caddy forum, they have alot of great info.

http://www.cadillacforums.com/forums/
Also go to this link and check out the video library. Great stuff on there!
http://www.cadillacfaq.com/faq/doclib.html

The Toy has a 5" susp and a 3" body lift (I think?) with 36x14.50x15 Mickey Thompsons. It's a great little truck. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I haven't lifted mine for the same reasons. One kid can just barely reach the door handle, and the other is reallly close to being able to get in on her own. With the roof rack, it doesn't fit in the garage anyway. I had infants when I drove our lifted F350, and you just learn to deal with it.

Thanks Drty, Pewter I mean, goes well with the Silver V.

Christa: Bad Wheel hop if I hammer it in both first or second, but you can get better 60 foot times if you slip the clutch versus dropping it. You trade clutch wear for tire wear and bent suspension components.

There are fixes for this if you want to change out a few rear suspension components. Google for the Cadillac V boards and you can get the gouge.

Me, I wanted this to squire about customers so I dont' want to "harden" the suspension anymore so I didnt modify it, but actually, now that we have the H2 we take customers about usually in it since it' more 'plush.'

Biggest modification I did for the V was a better rain tire than the stock supercar Goodyears. Wore those completely out within 6 months and then they sucked in Utah winter weather or any rain storm. Part of the reason we added the H2.

Dont' race anymore; crazy sport, might as well do crack. When I was racing the #94 RT/10 Viper with the Viper Club of America back around 1996, won a third place refrigerator magnet at Gateway in St. Louis that said, "Congratulations, Third Place." Figured it cost me $1000. Sold the Viper and bought two Mini Coopers to campaign in SCCA ProSolo and AX. My co-driver won a number of races on the West coast swing with my #14 H Stock MiniCooper, I really only did well against easier competition in Utah and Rocky Mt states. So I was better at setting cars up than driving them...again, $1000 for refrigerator magenets...

Sold all the race gear early this year and bought a boat, I'm a better sailor than racer anyway.

I'll tell my husband about your clutch trick. He spends alot of time on a caddy forum, http://www.cadillacforums.com I think, and has gleaned ALOT of information from those guys! Thats where he learned about the fix for the wheel hop. The dealer techs didn't even know about it yet! http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif Great site! We also take off the run-flats in the winter and only run them in the summer. You're right, they are a little squirrely for wet roads which around here is quite often! http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif He's is currently trying to blow the rear-end so he can get it replaced. The rear end and wheel-hop are the only weak links in this car, which really don't affect anything if you drive like grandma, but if you drive it like it's made to be driven, there are issues that caddy needs to deal with. Otherwise love it and (knock on wood) no tickets yet! http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
Sounds like you had a good time racing! We're big racing fans here, but you couldn't pay me to go that fast in a car! Scary! I understand about the magnet thing! We spent years and thousands of dollars on showing horses. We've gotten out of it now, but we do have a couple boxes of trophies, ribbons and a really cool belt buckle to show for it! http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Did it a couple of times and it was great. The first time I went I just did the ride along. We were the first car out that morning so went 3 extra laps to warm up the tires. First turn when the driver was really running it the back end kicked out about 20 degree. When we got back to the pits he said he looked at me at that moment and I had a huge grin on my face so he kept in it. I personally thought it added more of a thrill to the whole experience and wasn't concerned with getting hurt at those speed with nobody else on the track. Driving is even better but you need to be with a group that isn't afraid to run them. If someone isn't following the right line on the track they will slow down so they do http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif I highly recommend it for your husband.

We didn't go really fast when driving, think it was about 120 MPH. It has been about 7 years since I did it. Riding you got to go faster but don't recall how fast. The track here is at Disney and is fairly small so I think larger tracks allow you to go faster. When I did it I was working on doing some video and animation for them so the price was great $0 http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif I took a few clients down to do it too and they loved every second.

I did just go and look and the prices have come down I believe, starting at $99 to ride and $379 to drive. Go to http://www.1800bepetty.com to find the track nearest you.

I think you would love the ride along though http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
