So I was able to get my order number from the dealer today and I called Hummer to see if I could get a build date.
I had to order mine because I wanted a 5 speed and it seems that most dealers have no interest in carrying anything but auto’s as of right now.
My H3 was ordered with the Adventure package, 5 speed, Sunroof, Black Steps, mp3 stereo, and some other goodies.
Well it turns out that Hummer was trying to make it so that if you wanted a sunroof you would have to order the Lux package. I’m not sure how they were officially trying to mandate this policy, it was just something that my dealer said may or may not be happening.
Either way since I ordered a sunroof with a non-lux package it would seem that it put a slight delay on my H3 as per Hummer customer support.
My order has been in for 3 weeks now and they will not have a build date for at least 2-3 weeks and then I’m looking at 3-5 weeks for delivery to my dealer after the build process has begun.
So I guess this is a warning to everybody out there ordering a Sunroof with a non-Lux package it may take a little longer than the standard 6-8 weeks.
I think I will have to adjust my Sig.

Thanks for the heads-up. We've had problems finding a sun-roof unit and are considering ordering. I guess we'd better get off the dime and do something before it becomes a Lux-only option.

We haven't been able to order a Non-Lux with sunroof for awhile now. They're not trying to phase it out, they're just doing what they initially did with the Lux & Sunroof, restrict production to ensure it's a premium deal.
The dealership I was at today told me that the sunroof is on restriction completely....but it could be ordered with the LUX or base models. Maybe the dealership gave me incorrect info today...

I have a sunroof in my Non-Lux Adventure Pkg. but the dealer failed to order my hitch for the H3 Now I find out that the whole rear bumper will have to be changed to accommidate the stock hitch because it is notched out, dealer says they are going to handle it... we shall see.
My dealer is giving me the same story, except my order hasn't even been accepted yet. The story I get is that since the sunroofs are in short supply, they are being allocated to the highest margin vehicles first, i.e. lux package. Therefore, if my dealer is only allocated 20 H3s per month, and all 20 of those orders are more expensive than mine, no soup for me.
It's been 3 weeks since I put down a deposit and my order still has not been accepted -- meaning when I call Hummer support I don't even show up in the system. I was told it could be at least another month until my order gets accepted and 8 weeks after that until delivery.
My patience is wearing thin.

My dealer told me I could either order an H3 (any package) with the sunroof or go after market and get the same sunroof for $800 at a local shop. The dealerships won't add the sunroof after they are shipped... He said with total confidence that the after market would be just as good as GM's...

I debated back and forth about getting the sunroof. Now after reading all of this trouble with the sunroof, I'm glad that I opted to take the one my dealer had available on the lot without the sunroof so I didn't have to place the order.
what trouble are people having with the sunroof? I haven't heard anyone complain about it yet! Everyone I know of seems to love it because it's so big

I just picked my H3 up Friday and its an Adventure with a Sunroof. My dealer had to look all over to find one and had to do a dealer trade. Of course I had to get some other options along with it that I didnt plan on like carpeted mats, roof marker lights (which are on quarantine from GM) XM radio and step tubes.
I must say the sunroof is VERY COOL and I'm glad I held out for it. It cost me quite a bit more but in the end it was worth it.

The biggest problem I see with going aftermarket is that it most likely won't be as big.

your right and wrong, you can get bigger aftermarket sunroofs but most small aftermarket guys won't touch it and it's way more then the factory. The same thing happened when the 3 rolled out. Teh sunroof is just now becomming a free flow option but supply is short of them. the factory onw is the way to go for alot of reasons.
