Don't Flame Me.. This question has probably come up before. Since I haven't been on this great forum for long..(About 2 months) I haven't seen it.
Here's the Question...
I'm from South New Jersey..(Joisey).The Dealers here are not what you call dealers when it comes to price. They only sell the H3 at MSRP... Aaah..So Sorry...No Hummer H3 For You..!!!! Come Back 1 Year....!!!
Now I think this is pretty much a standard thing. In fact I haven't heard of dealers anywhere offering a discount on an H3. Now I'm ready to by but waiting till march to see what the 2007 H3's are gonna offer over the 2006's.
Her's the the real Question to you H3 Mayvens...
Did you get a discount off of MSRP ...... Did you get a deal??? Or did you get the Soup Nazzi Price.. FULL LIST..!!
Now come on ... Be honest.. And if you did get a discount ..tell me where to go to get that $5.00 Saving.. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

What you need to do is find someone on this iste that can offer you a GM in the driveway coupon. On a fully loaded rig you get about $3800 off sticker. Than all you have to do is find a dealer to honor that coupon/ certificate.
most dealers out here honor the GM discount.

In South Florida I have gotten the price down to $450.00 over DEALER INVOICE. My only problem is that the dealer is claiming THEY pays the factory around $1050.00 in advertising fees ...
I am having B I G P R O B L E M S believing that.
I have read in the forum of people buying below MSRP.
Just remember a 100 or even 200 mile drive can POSSIBLY save you a lot of money. BETTER IN YOUR POCKET INSTEAD OF THEIRS.

Your friend should be able to get you one if he/she is a GM employee. My understanding is they are allowed to give out two a month. GMID price is about 2% over invoice. Do a search here on the forum and you will find a lot of threads about it. Good luck.

Google found you incorrect information. HummerNewbie is correct. In fact, GMID cannot be used by a GM employee or any of their relatives that are eligible for the GMS (actual GM discount).
If your friend is a salaried position, they probably know how to access the GM website to obtain the certificate. If they are union, and do not access the GM internal website that often, all they have to do is go to "My Socrates," sign in, then go to Services, then to GM Family First, then click on GMID, enter their password for GMID. Once in to the GMID site, they enter your date of birth and last four of your ssn. The system issues a GMD number, which you take to the dealer.
The dealer compares this number with information they can obtain via their GM connection. You then get a price of approx. 2% above invoice.
Believe me, I know the process, and would offer you one myself; however, I have already given out my two authorization numbers for this month, and promised out for next month.

There is an advertising charge on each rig. And the dealer really does pay it. Best bet is get a employee from GM to give yo a GMID, Supplier, or GMS discount cert. Save some serious cash with less fight.

I got my H3 in Pittsburgh Back in November.
I emailed the Hummer salesmen at the dealership
telling him what i wanted in my hummer. They had exacally what i wanted. He emailed me back with a discount price of $250 over cost. Also this dealership DOES NOT mark them up. My sticker price was around $34,030. I went to the
Hummer website and built my own and the final price after building was right down to the penny...$34,0030.
I was even upside down on my trade by around $6000. So what they did was take even more of the hummer price then added it back on and more after that and gave me more for my trade. so it looked good to the banks. Anyway total discount was sticker at $34,0030 I actually only paid around $30,150
Pretty good deal i think Yellow H3 Adv. Pack

I'm going to make some calls and find out why a GM dealership would refuse a GMID number. I don't see how that can refuse a direct discount from the manufacturer.

Ok, here's whay GM said about the program:
"To answer your question, yes dealerships can opt out of the program anytime they choose to do so. They are independently owned so they are no obligated to stay in the program. The only advice I can give you is to seek out another dealership who will honour the price. You can also tell the dealership that they do get refunded the discount so they do not lose anything by giving it out.
Sincerely,

So has anyone tried negotiating further? If they are willing to come off of MSRP and are refunded the full GMID discount, would it be any different to them of negotiating better than GMID? Say for round figured lets say they are willing to come off MSRP by $1K but you also have the discount. Wouldn't they make the same money if they took the $1K off the GMID price or can they not negotiate beyond this?
Mike E

most dealers will not negotiate if you are using a GMID. They will however, give you all other incentives on the vehicle with the GMID.
HummerNewbie
01-12-2006, 04:37 PM
Yeah, I figured most wouldn't but is there a reason why they wouldn't? Are they restricted by GM maybe? They way I read it, they would basically make the same money but have a happier customer. I know that a happier customer is not a concern of far too many dealers but just wondering.

I went to my HUMMER dealership the day the very first H3 was on the lot. I bought mine right off the showroom floor so I never even tried to get a discount because there was a very large waiting list for people to buy one. I just considered myself lucky to get mine when I did so I didn't mind paying full price. I knew if I even tried they would say.............."If you don't want this one at the sticker price then we know others that will take it". I love my HUMMER it was worth every penny.

It is a waste of your time to negotiate the price before you tell them that you are getting GMID price. The price is set by GM and printed directly on the invoice. I can tell you that there is definitely something wrong with the above story of gettign a 39k H3 for 29k. Even GMS price which is the cheapest way to get them is not going to be that much. GMS price on a 38k unit is about 33,300 and GMID is about 34,800 if one was sold for 29k then it was a demo or company special event vehicle not straight new vehicle purchase.

SO ..I priced mine out several different ways and I think the highest MSRP was 41 K and Change .So I guess I'm looking at around 36-37K?

You are right. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
GMID price, on a Hummer, is about 2% over invoice, minus any rebates, plus $75 dealer fee ( documentation, etc. ) maximum, plus tax and tags.
No way is it close to $10K off msrp/sticker on an H3. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

Thanks guys... This is great info... Didn't know excactly how much my GMID would get me. 2% aprox over invoice sounds very good. I want to load up on the options but of course we all have our limit. I have about 35K Plus or minus a few hundred to play with. Then of course I have to add sales tax after that.
Some of the options like the Chrome package seem high for 4 door handles and 2 Chrome mirrors..@ a list of $400.00 http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_eek.gif..Or the amber light bar @ aprox $695.00 http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_eek.gif
Heh... But This is America... http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif Let's HAGGLE..!!

I just bought an H2 SUT, 2 days ago, with GMID.
The GM Supplier/GMID price is about 2% over invoice.
It is shown on the invoice for the vehicle.
Hrlyrider,
Very nice vehicle!!!

You got into the holdback, so the dealer could move 2 units.
