Hi all,

I've been talking with a dealership about buying a slate blue, adventure H3. I checked with them on pricing with getting leather, roof marker lights and an extended warranty added on and these are the numbers I got (installion included):

Leather w/ heated seats - $1900
Roof Marker Lights - $1100
7yr/100k bumper2bumper $200 deduct : $4000 http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_eek.gif

Is it me, or do those numbers seem a bit high?

Thanks,

JT

They look normal for dealer retail but may i suggest that you contact someone else (another dealer) to sell you the extended warranty. As you can get it for much cheaper. In addition, I dont think you will need it. They come with a 5yr/50k mi warranty. If I bought a used H3 (or any car) I would get a warranty for sure. But not on a new one.

That extended warranty is DEFINITELY high.
If you extended your warranty 3.5 years down the road you would probably only pay $2500.

I bought my H3 2 days ago and the finance guy was trying to charge me $1800 for the extended warranty so I think you have a LOT of wiggle room on that.

I say:
1. You can extend the warranty down the road. You will get tons of offers in the mail.
2. That current quote is WAY too high. You could easily get that down to $2k

Just get the Lux package with the Off Road suspension. You will end up with more than you are getting now for about the same price.

I love the marker lights (when they are not vibrating on the highway http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif ) but this price is real high. Should be able to get them for around $650 installed.

OK...I'll sacrifice my truck. If you pay to have the marker lights put on my truck I'll let you know if they are worth it.

If this is aftermarket leather seats and includes the heated power seats, then it is probably a good price. Just leather, about 1000

marker lights installed about 610

warranty 2000-2500 depending on deductable.

I am sure someone somewhere has a better price list than this, but these are fair prices.

Leather with seat heaters is a fair price. Just make sure they're going to use a good brand of seat heater, there are some good ones out there that are worth the money.

Marker lights are a little high.

FIRST

Don't order any DEALER OPTION...

Next offer to pay FACTORY INVOICE for the H-3 with whatever FACTORY ITEMS you want (as most will tell you the LUX PKG is great and includes POWER Heated Leather Seats)

FORGET the EXTENDED WARRENTY (as said earlier price WAY TO HIGH and you will get lots of offers later..REMEMBER EXT WARR is a MONEY MAKER)

You don't mention where you are located and unless your in BFE there are many dealers and independant shops that would love to sell you accessories at FAIR PRICES

Take a extra day or two BEFORE buying and read through old posts on this FORUN. YOU WILL LEARN A LOT

If you are in BFE you might have to drive a bit, but I will tell you (as well as many other) that THE MONEY LEFT IN YOUR POCKET AFTER YOU WORK A GOOD DEAL IN BETTER THEN THAT MONEY IN THEIR POCKET.

I didn't think you could get the leather seats w/o the Lux package. Are they offering you the factory setup or an aftermarket?

As for the warranty, seems really high. I paid about $2K for mine, 7/70 I think, through a third party provider. You should be able to find a better price. And if you really want the extended warranty, you might not want to wait, as the prices tend to go up as you put miles on the truck.

Thanks for the replies.

I considered just getting the luxury package and tacking on the suspension package but I can't find one in this area (Northern VA) in slate blue with cashmere with a sunroof http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif . Plus the one I'm working on (adven. pkg.) has been at the dealership's inventory for 120+ days, so I would get another $1000 off the price (not sure if it would come off after the GMID price though). With that discount, I don't mind going with aftermarket leather and losing the power seats.

From what you guys have said about the roof marker lights and ext. warranty, I'll stay away from those for now http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif .

Funny thing with the marker lights; the factory sticker said it was suppose to have it, yet it isn't there...but the price certainly shows it!

Again, guys, thanks for the advice. If there's any other things you would suggest, I'd appreciate it.

Edd - Sure, after you give me your H3 and your title, I'll be more than happy to get them put on! http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

PWRL,

Remember some FACTORY items are installed by the dealer but priced by the factory. Make sure its listed on the FACTORY WINDOW STICKER not the dealer add on sticker.

Do want to say 1 thing. My replys sometimes seem like i'm anti dealer, BUT I'M NOT...
JUST a firm believer that MOST of us work hard for our money and the left overs are better in OUR pocket instead of THEIRS.

Remember you don't want the salesman/woman to be your friend till after you are happy with the deal. Until that time his/her job is to separate you from your money. Smile, talk nice but stand firm and milk the deal for as much as you can get. Ask for (and get in writing from sales manager) Free Loaner always for warrenty AND non warrenty work, oil changes for life of H-3, Hummer Pens, Hats, T-Shirts etc

BUT

remember if you get it YOU MUST TALK GREAT ABOUT THE DEALER ALL THE TIME. There will always be little disagreements about this or that kinda like a good marrage ( i'm divorced twice)

GOOD LUCK...

If the factory sticker shows the marker lights, they should be installed on the truck. I love the marker lights myself. I had mine put on last month but they have started making noise. This is an issue that will be fixed so if this is your reason to walk away from them, I wouldn't. As far as the price for them, tell them you know you can get them for $610 installed and that is what you are willing to pay. Having the vehicle on the lot for 120+ days will give you some power in the deal. I have no idea where you are but if they won't come down to at least $700 on the lights, tell them no deal and don't get the lights or walk away from the whole deal. You can always take it to another dealer to install the lights.

FYI - Don't get any of the rust-proof coating crap or rock-protection coating crap that the finance guy will offer you. I read in the manual that it will void the warranty and it also notes that the H3 is already fully rust-proofed, etc.
