Fabtech Steering Stabilizer Failed

:mad: Found some wet spot under the skid plate, too clean & clear to be moto oil, turned out to be the hydraulic fluid from the FT unit. Had it removed but realized stock unit won;t fit any more. Can someone suggest an alternative stabilizer I can use with the FT brackets? Thanks.

You might can get a Rancho one on there or you can cross the FT one and see what else it fits and try to find another one of them.

Thanks for the suggestion. I actually got an email from Phil that they will take care of it, and I will just wait for a replacement instead of hunting for another brand for now.

My dealer's manager was good enuf to waive labor cost, they installed the kit for me last year but they did not sell me the kit. The manager said just to bring it back when I get the replacement but I think I could just do that myself (time to clean up the underside) :o

FWIW I haven't heard of many Fabtech stabs failing like that, certainly no more than any other brand. Check your balance, as I've heard of a bad balance causing issues over time.

Either way another stab is on the way.

Thanks for the info. When you say balance, I take it you meant the balance of the tires. Those were done in less than 500 miles ago, and if it should make any difference, the last 2000 miles were 90% freeway with average speed of 80.

The exact same thing just happened to me:mad: ! The fluid collects in the skid plate and drains back about a foot or so making it tricky to find what was leaking.

FYI - mine failed as well - what I found out after numerious trys to get it replaced - is' got a special number - not the same as the FT streering stabilizer. The reason mine failed - was it was not lined up properly because they installed a set screw above the left side bracket. By doing so - the unit bent as it was moved back and fourth - thus it developed a leak. I only use the one bolt (main) position and torqued it down - and it works bravo... It took weeks of on and off including trying the Rancho - which fits in what was once the stock position. The FT kit changes all of that.

Yep - thats it... If you use that nut in its original location the SS will not line up correctly and BIND / BEND / Leak... I did not use it - only the main bolt and she works perfect!:cool:
