So I sent my Resume in for a Marketing Job that I was looking into. The company is great, the pay is great, and I have all of the qualifications they are looking for.

So I'm working out yesterday at lunch and I didn't hear my phone ringing. I got back from my workout and had 2 missed calls. Both of them were from the company I had applied to but they did not leave me a message. Now they have not called back and I was wondering if I should call them back and get the ball rolling from my end, or do I wait today to see if they attempt to call me again?

this is a serious question. I have worked for First Data Corporation and Western Union for 10 years now, since the day I got out of College and I have not done much job hunting so what are your opinions.....:o

I'd definitely call them back. Nothing wrong with being pro-active and I'm sure they'd see it as such.

thanks guys, I am going to call them in a few minutes. I planned on it honestly but I just didn't want to be a "pest" I guess.....

but I would definately rather be pro-active and show them I'm interested then sit back and HOPE they call me again. It just threw me off that they called twice and didn't leave a message either time...

Agreed. Nothing wrong with appearing motivated and interested in them.

Also, I bet they are waiting to see whether or not you call back. They are probably also using this as an opportunity to check out your cold-calling skills, voice, temperament(HAHA!!!) and how you handle their preliminary phone interview.

By not answering your phone twice and not calling back, I would not hire you. I would have already hired the other guy I talked to the same time i lined you up. Good luck man. You gota move quick.....

I remember I was offered a part for a new Naked Gun movie. They phoned 3-4 times and I couldn't return the call. I was hiding in a bush that night. Needless to say I never got the part. Chicks who lift weights really turn me on.......squeeze..........

So have you called them yet Moonie???

What did they say????

I informed them that I emailed a resume and cover letter for the position and was wondering if they had filled it or if they were still hiring. The lady was nice, asked me my name, and informed me that they are going to be screening people starting next week.

I thanked her for her time...

so now I wait and see if that did anything. I did not want to tell them that I knew they called because I only knew after Googling the "weird" number that called twice and left no message...

In the meantime...would anyone like to help me out with my resume? Any of you "peeps" good resume writers and willing to look mine over and give me some tips. It's a very generic resume at this point and I'd like to spice it up. Not really looking to make it "market" specific as I'm in the mood to do ANYTHING that interests me hence keeping it simple and highlighting work history and accomplishments...

if so please PM me:)

I think having something that is not market specific is a good idea, however I wouldn't recommend sending them out that way. It needs to be adjusted for the company/audience. You need to be familar with their operation and adjust accordingly.

I?d would have left a message and given it until the end of the day before I gave it a second thought.

Calling and not leaving a message and assuming the person has caller ID and recognizes the number is not a great way to communicate.

Moon, did you call back yet?

right above your post, we must have posted at the same time...;)

Agreed, I have had several styles over the years. If you are a "flexible" individual, you need a "flexible" resume.

Don't be lazy Moonie:D

I'm not being lazy, really I'm not. I got a bugg a couple day to finally leave my underpaying ass but I have not been home enough in the past 48 hours to get online and search any type of "resume" help and any type of "resume" help I search here at work gets SONIC FIREWALLED:D

soooooooo, I am just gathering info from talking to people. I understand the difference between a generic resume and tailored one and I'll tailor it to the job I'm applying for. But a good Generic one is a good start since I have not looked for a job in about 8 years or so:o

I like people, I'm actually very organized, and when my minds in the right place I'm actually fairly smart:rolleyes: ......so I hope to find something soon...

That's pretty much how it works. I always dread it when I have to update my resume.

Just make sure you catch the "trends" though. Monster and Hotjobs have great resources for what "style" of resume and employee different industries are looking for.

Good luck Moonie.:D

Now that's funny, you can spend your day posting on Elcova but a search for "resume" gets blocked  :D

hell, I can watch porno, stream music, watch fights, chat with you all, hit golf balls, lift weights, chat with you guys, chat with you guys, watch some more porno, wheel my jeep in the field across the street, come back and chat with you all, watch more porno.....

but I cant look for another car, cant search "resume", and definately cant get to the help wanted adds........

guess there is something about paying someone to search for a new job my boss doesn't like:D

Actually.......here is the truth. My Boss knows I have little to do and he does not care. He also knows that I'm way under payed and he let's me do my thing cause my **** is always done on time, done correctly, and done well. As long as the network is running smoothly, and my guys PC's get shipped correctly and built correctly, I'm open to do what I want........but that is the catch. If he will pay me what he does to do nothing, then I might as well find someone who will pay me more to work my ass off. I was still taking classes and there are a lot of benefits to working where I do but it's time to move on. My Boss and others tell me on a semi weekly basis that I have too much potential to be wasting it here.......:o
