Got word today that at least 4 H3's & 1 H2 suffered alternator failures after this Hummer Happening from submersion....but we were never in more than 24" of water (OK, maybe we went faster that 5 mph), and GM won't cover them under warranty. :violin: I had no troubles with it, but I'll have a look to see if I can fab some kind of splash shield under the alternator to prevent it later!

Anybody else had this happen? It's not the kind of thing you'd expect to go bad, but I can easily see how it could happen.

The only trouble I found was both front inside wheelwell covers were broken, one missing a chunk over a foot around....not sure how I caught those on anything. Oh yah, anybody seen my front left wheelcap?

nice pics cris!!!:perfect10s: hey when were you able to brake from the pack to take the east trail at the mounds? I would have gone that way as oposed to going back through the "trench"

SR1355
11-10-2006, 04:21 AM
Hummjay, We ran the trail to the east early in the day. The long deep canyon of a mud hole was the hardest part of it. For that just a little speed was needed to clear where everyone coming from the other direction ends up stuck and diggin in.

I don't know that the East end was any easier, man...first you gotta get into this hole (and we've see it full of water to the top!)

CrisB
11-10-2006, 04:38 AM
Then you've gotta hit the gas hard (I was the test subject here, slow didn't work)

SR1355
11-10-2006, 04:40 AM
It was so early that Cris was playing ice breaker in this one. First ones in the pool that day.

CrisB
11-10-2006, 04:40 AM
...Or you can skip to the right around the hole, but then you've gotta deal with this bog, and it WILL require a winch to get out & up the other side. Practically bottomless pit of mud:jump:

First ones in the pool that day.

That made it so we could see the bottom of the holes, I love getting there early!
