I guess my trip to Kansas was to get me ready for this, we got 4 inches of snow, then rain for about 2 hours then 4 more inches of snow. This was me trying to get in to my H3 this morning, had to chip the ice from the door...

My neighbor is nuts about snow, plows his drive way of even 1/2 inch, yesterday he kept clearing it of the snow and was pissed i did not plow mine, I told him with the freezing rain I would wait until it fell ON TOP OF THE SNOW and then clear my drive way. This A.M. i did not have time to plow but the HUMMER had no trouble (after removing the ice from him) to break the ice crusted snow covered drive way. MY neighbors driveway was a shiny as a sheet of glass. He had plowed clear to the black top and then the freezing rain fell. he could not even get his Tahoe to move on the flat part of the driveway. IT was great. we were looking at his drive way (which runs down hill) and were guessing that the ice was two inches thick on it. He is now trying to figure out how to get the ice off adn with the temps dropping below 10 degrees salt is not a choice.

I plow it with a 1977 dynamark tractor ,The old thing runs like new :D Takes a while but does the job.

Salt alone wont work its to cold.
Use a mixture of sand with salt, the salt makes holes and the sand fills them, instant grip:beerchug:''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''

fourfourto, have a fantastic time in Florida. How long will you be there? Warm those bones .. forget about the snow and ice. Brrrr. In the meanwhile, I'll enjoy the view of the Pacific that I have from my window. :giggling: Although beautiful to see, I couldn't deal with all that snow and ice.

I have an old Wheel horse iI use to plow. Some one dumped it at the end of my drive way last summer , I was pissed and dragged it up around the house until I could get rid of it. My brother stopped and had it running in 15 minutes, it even had a plow attached to it when it was dumped. My driveway is not long but the way it is situated it drifts really bad. Thankfully PENNDOT got all that pesky snow off the road so the ice under is can be more easily driven on. Too cold for salt.

Here I am parked at the end of my driveway this morning.
