I just wanted to see what everyones opinion is on the extended warranty offered by GM for the H3. Is it worth getting the 100,000 mile warranty?
I called to see what it would cost me and at my current mileage 2,800 plus for my 07 is close to $2,300.00. I would also have to put it on my wifes 07 H3. So I wondered what everyone thought about it since I would be paying over $4,000.00 for this.

They charge for extended warrenties because they earn the company a profit.

Not nuff.

Obscene profit baked into pricing of most extended warranties. And the rig really doesn't start falling apart in an expensive way until your past the 100K mark.

well duh, what isnt marked up with profit, thats what its all about, but i still think its worth getting the warranty if you got the extra cash, just for the piece of mind, if nothing else. Although i dont know if thats a good price, dont remember what i paid for mine. And RYD, who doesnt charge for Extended Warranties, isnt that the whole point?

The Powertrain on the 07 has a 100,000 mile 5 year warranty, 6 year 100,000 for corrosion. Thats about the most expensive things to fix.
So I say it's not worth it.

Let me word it another way.

Example:

When YOU buy life insurance, your betting your going to die and the insurance company is betting your going to live, ALL BASED ON STATISTICS... and age/health

When you buy an extended warrenty your betting the vehicle will break and the manufacturer is betting it won't, again based and STATISTICS and age (mileage considerations)

Taking all that into your mind, factor in the P word and WALA you come out losing money.

I have an idea: Send me the money you would pay minus 7%, maintain the HUMMER as per the exact factory guidelines and if it breaks i will arrange to repair it. You must maintain all records from day one.

I got the extended warranty for my H3 and my wife's Montana from a dealership in PA. They sell via the internet and the price is alot less and you don't have to pay state sales tax if you are outside PA. The dealership I think is http://www.gmoutlet.com/ the prices are below what any of the local dealer's I talked to could get me by over 400 dollars per car. I payed by credit card and a couple weeks later the policy was in my mailbox. I hope this helps.

So use peeps is talking about a 100K Mile warranty over and above the Factory 5 Year/100K warranty. In other words...use would have a 200K mile warranty.

Is dis what use is talking about.

Cornfusing....:p

if thats the case then its a definate yes, but i think the dealer said that the time and milage on the extended waranty starts from the date and milage the agreement is made.

Previously i posted that it would be a good idea but i didnt remember the new warrranty stuff. So based on that, what Av1ator said, the most expensive part would already be covered, seems right on. It still might not be bad to do it, but probably might turn out to be a waste of money. Buy $4,000 worth of accessories instead, prefferably all chrome!:D Obviously the chrome part was a joke.

If you factor in Pussy, then you will be in the hole...not the one you want, but the money hole

plus

If you factor in Profit, then you will be in the hole, and again not the one you want.

so

either way you loose with an extended warrenty

No.

OK...."S"... you have 99,000 miles on your Rig. You then buy a GM Extended Warranty for 100,000 miles. So now you eiter have Door #1 ..101,000 miles left..or ..you have Door #2 a new waranty that starts as of the date you purchased it with 100,000 miles.

Take your pick....Door #1 or Door #2..

Please tell me you didn't buy Gap, Car Care, and any other add ons. If you buy one now your wasting money. Buy only GMPP which will be offerd to you by GM when your truck gets close to comming out of factory warrn.
Buy from any GM dealer for best price or direct from GM

LOL...no I didnt buy any of those. I was just concerned because the Finance officer made it sound like the parts are very expensive if something breaks down after warranty expires. I mean yeah the wife and I both have H3's but we work our asses off to have a good life you know?
