They're getting in at a good time. It's estimated that there will be between 10 - 15k VLJs (Very Light Jets) operating in the US by 2015.

They claim a 40% better economy then conventional VLJs and are partnered with GE. I wonder how it does when viewing highway miles vs. in town. This could be another Prius.;)

FWIW, the HondaJet is very expensive when viewed against comparables:

Check out eclipse avaiations new jet. They (if they succeed) they will dominate the market. They happen to rent some space from us and have a building next to us in ABQ, NM.

this will be the first "mass produced" jet ever. They have been quoted as saying they plan on producing 10k+ units a year. :shhh:

They are building a huge complex with help from the state on our westside near our small comuter airport. They are going like gangbusters out here now and the plane looks sharp even with the cost hike and engine swap late in the game.

We'll see how that works out for Honda. The price is pretty sweet when compared to a Raytheon Premier I, but Raytheon is a proven company which goes a long way with me. My dad is showing interest in the Honda jet, but hopefully I can persude him away from it.

Tell him to look at the Honda. It's realy nicly put together. has largest cabinspace in it's class, best fuel economy, and real quiate, inside and out.
(I dont think we put any side curtain air bags in it though):giggling:

Goundhawg,
I agree its one nice looking plane. IMO its best to buy things from manufactures that specialize in that one item. Honda builds cars (and some other things), but their bread and butter is cars. If and when they get in to planes if they do not feel they are successfull they might pull out leaving the plane owners hanging. I think its too risky to dump 3.5 mil in to something until the company making it is established and proven that they are not going anywhere.

We have a boat from Toyota. Talk about a mistake. Its nicely put together, the engine is great, and performance wise the hull is fair. But, Toyota pulled out of the boat business, completely ****ing over every one of the boat owners. I cannot get service done for the boat anymore, and for the last two years have had to get all of my parts from Atlanta Georgia. I cant get a dealer to take the boat on trade, and I cant pawn it off on someone in a private sale. Imagine if the same thing happened with a plane, only istead of having 40K to lose you have over 3.5 million.
