sweet moses. my father is considering the purchase of a mini cooper s. the only car i've ever wanted is a HUMMER H2. i think a mini cooper is the exact antithesis of an H2. is this some sort of sick, twisted joke?

here are my thoughts on the mini:

the pros: 6-speed manual trans, yellow, FAST, gas mileage, cute?

the cons: not a HUMMER, cute?, not a HUMMER

if this isn't irony, i don't know what is. :lame:

Insisting on an h2 rather than a mini is not being spoiled, spoiled would be flipping out if you got a yellow h2 when you wanted a black h2. Kinda like this... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CzG_oHDLZdc :giggling:

Was it Dominos? I can't remember.

Yeah, I don't doubt they're fun. Its just that I was fortunate enough to test drive an '07 H2, and it was amazing. I don't disagree that small cars are fast and fun to drive, but its definately an H2 for me!!:D

OK. Is he thinking of getting himself a Mini, or getting one for you? If its for him who cares he's the one thats got to be seen in it. If its for you and he's the one footing the bill then your gonna get what you get.

This hurts me to say... but for the same price as the MINI S, if you really want an SUV you can always go with the Wrangler Unlimeted.

Just start wheelin (off-roading) the hell out of your Mini. After replacing a few radiators, wheels, tires, and body panels, your dad should get the hint. :giggling: That is how I got my first SUV. Sure I had to pay for it, but I needed a co-signer.
By the way, the H3 is a great vehicle, certainly a great hummer for your first.

I drove a mini for a week while I was in Utah last september. It was fun. Wouldn't want to get in an accident with it though. The ride was rough. The wife didn't really appreciate it at the time. Lastly, there's no way of fitting kids comfortable in the back seat....

Hummer Aficionado_VT
04-02-2007, 08:41 PM
Oh, yeah! There's definetly no room in the back, especially for me. (6'2", 250) We gave one a spin though, and it certainly was fun to drive!

Find a clean used H2 & price it. Then ask your dad, realistically, how much input does he think you should have on the type of vehicle you get. If the door opens, tell him about this great H2 at a great price you found. Then tell him your buddy tower wants an H1 and is looking to get adopted. (Okay, forget the last part.)

my dad had two, had one mini S, then had the Mini Cooper S John Cooper Works GP #0415 out of 2000, and both those wre freakin sick and hte GP was bad as$ over 220HP no back seats much much much reduced weight in that little car the thing freakin flew, i love the mini's i think there one of the most fun cars to drive and ive drove many many many cars, but if you get it you gotta go with the S in stick

well the mini forum seems to think (sticker - list - msrp) is very much the norm...

i'm hearing (reading) stuff there of lots of dealers doing ADM (additional dealer markup)...

I would say that sucks but at least getting sucked feels good, paying full or above just isn't AMERICAN... there should be a law against it...

saturn tries it but is not sucessful...there are lots of ways around it...i love the challange...

all i know is with that GP we kinda got screwerd over with that, we actually payed a little below list, which was like completly against the rules they were going ot everyone else way above list. And we had it for like 4 months, then traded it in on my dads new car, the crazy part was then the Porsche dealer sold the mini which, we drove for several months, for over the orignal list price by a large margin! However list does not seem norm for these I have a few friends with Mini's and no one payed list for it
