View Full Version : What did you drive before you got your Hummer?

H3slate

What did your Hummer replace? For me my H3 replaced a 2003 Nissan Xterra. Both have similar interior space with the Xterra having a little more cargo space. It's V-6 is a little quicker than the I-5, but the automatic was boring. But once I saw and drove the H3, there was no comparision. The H3 had better fit and finish inside and out. I have had a lot more fun in the H3 on and off road.

Here is a pick of my Xterra up in Washington. I enjoyed it when I had it, but do not miss it!

I drove a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited. Was a nice vehicle but just did not compare once I drove a HUMMER. Was pretty good off road but did not have a locker and the approach and departure angles were not as good. Plenty of power though with that V8. Will miss the power and maybe some creature comforts.

what kind of ship is that skipper?

Its a 95' Coast Guard Patrol BOAT (not a ship). The picture is of a newer one then i was on. Mine was the 95303 built in 1953. We did Law Enforcement & Search and Rescue.

It was neat when I first went on board. It had a WWII Twin 20mm AA Pumper on the stern so you could run and hide and still cover your asp. Later on we went to the yards and they removed those and then reinforced the foredeck and mounted an 81mm Mortar there. What a 95 footer needed a Mortar fore I'll never know, but they did mount a 50 Cal piggyback on top of the Mortar.

We could only go about 23 knots because we were running 2 to 1 reduction gear for towing large ships without power.

And to answer someone elses question I was the most important person on the BOAT..

Used to drive a 2000 4runner. Not bad offroad for a stock vehicle, but geez was it gutless and boring! Always felt cramped in it too.

But it had two features I liked ... a ceiling console for sunglasses and one-touch up and down switches for both driver and passenger windows.

Before that I drove a 1998 Blazer ZR2. Now that was a lot of fun! 5-spd manual, torquey 4.3L v6, 31" BFG ATs and plenty of elbow room. Even had heated mirrors. Finally had to get rid of it cause I needed four doors ... and maybe cause I bent the frame wheeling :D

Yep, spur of the moment kind of thing. Got a wake up call saying my rims were done this morning and I left while practically still sleeping. I just had a stock set of rims powder coated at Excell Coatings over on Cox Rd in Cocoa. Pics are in the H2 section.

It looked sweet, was outfitted well, and even wheeled well. However, it was a rattle-trap from the day I bought it new. It was impossible to shut the rear cargo door if it were opened while the heep was flexed. It could be off by 10 inches or more.

2005 Chevy Colorado, 4dr yellow

1990 Chevy Silverado Super Sport show truck (GONE BUT NOT FORGOTTEN). My husband had already started building this truck when we got together. We built the bed interior together and loved showing it. We won several awards with it but felt that it was time to move on. He has a 1958 pickup to build and I have a 1938 chevy sedan to build and there's no way we would have even started to build them as long as we still had this one. I fell in love with the H3 the first time I laid eyes on it so we sold the show truck and used part of the money as down payment and traded my colorado. Now I'm dressing up the H3 to show while he prepares to work on his 58 and I'm loving every minute of it.

Hey where did you get those pics of my second car or my daily driver depending how high the ceiling is on the parking structure. I'm more of a # 3 or Red Line guy.

But don't forget this set of wheelshttp://www.lakevieweast.com/image/cab.jpg

:giggling:, the red line is where its all at. but browns closer to me:beerchug:
