The family and I will be leaving this Friday :D :D for our annual roadtrip... This will be the first ROADTRIP with the H3 and we are all looking forward to it. Two or three weeks out west doing lots of offroad trails. I'll start posting pics on Friday, loaded for bear... ready to leave.

Headings to Estes Park, CO first for a few days, we have friends that own a campground there.

Then off the Cedar City, UT for a few days, want to see ZION and BRYCE...

Then 4 days off road in Kaibab NF on the north rim of Grand Canyon, then Needles area in Canyonlands, UT, then MOAB for a short week, then who knows where....

Anyone have any suggestions for trails etc. let me know.. I'll have limited internet access while on the road but will post pics as I can...

Right on Paul!

That trip sounds like a great time! I hope your family has a blast! I'll be watching for the pics. If you have the time -the San Juans around Ouray are very spectacular also, and pretty damn close to where you'll be running around. It sounds like an outstanding plan you got there.

Enjoy! :beerchug:

Paul, Awesome set up! Looks like my "work truck" H3 when I'm loaded for a job. What rack is that above your spare tire? Is it attached to the rear door? Those drawers and shelf in the very back, are they home made or do you have a link? I could really use some of that stuff!

HOLY Jed Clampett!!!! Where you gonna put Granny?

...and I thought I loaded up big. That last trip to Moab, fully loaded roof & interior, I averaged about 11 mpg....but who the hell's counting?

Thanks, made both the rack and the storage drawer system, there a thread on both..... The rack is great for gas and cooler... akmost needed gas yesterday coming across UTAH... 106 mile between services and I was under a half tank when passing last services... actually I was hoping to run out then I could have said to the wife "See,,, I told you these cans of gas would come in handy" :giggling:

I thought I over packed for a road trip...

There's two Contigo boxes, a really big and and the smaller SUV Tufbox, stands about 13" tall... I bought two of the others and owned them for about 30 minutes.... way to tall, around 18".... These smaller ones are great,, tough as nails...

I put Granny in a stuff sack in the first tub on top....

Yesterday had 290 miles on tank before filling up and light was not even on.... 15 MPG average so far... it's crazy.... getting better mileage all loaded up than when runnin empty. Yesterday we crossed the divide in CO, 5-6K RPM first gear up the big hill....

Some pics coming across UTAH yesterday... We spent Saturday and Sunday in Estes Park CO, ran a couple of trails, Post Hill, Iron Clads, and Plane Wreck.... Loose and rubblie.... had lots of fun... these pics are of yesterday cross country from CO to UT... it was hot out and the truck didn't like it... I've read a couple of threads on engine temp but I don't like running at the 3/4 mark not matter what GM tells us... it make me a little nervous.

[QUOTE=SR1355]There's two Contigo boxes, a really big and and the smaller SUV Tufbox, stands about 13" tall... QUOTE]

Yeah.. The smaller one was the one I was thinking about.. IMHO it could stand to be about 3 or 4 inches shorter and about the same added to either the width of length.. Every inch added to the height is like pushing another barn door down the road...

I need to check into those threads about the engine temp. I was worried something was wrong with mine since Ive been running at 3/4 mark also. Dont like it.

Found a cave close to Cedar City called Mammoth Cave, we can self explore it. It's about 1/2 mile long from one end to the other, wide and tall and start, then very tight as you near they end. The NFS allows access from April thru Oct then the lock it up for the bats to spend the winter in...

Thanks Neo,, it was pretty cool... we actual went done in the afternoon and had to turn around due to dead batteries in one of the flash lights. Went back that night aroud 11:00 pm, freaky being out there when it so dark. Cave was awesome for first time splunkin'... it was around 80 degrees out side but towards the end of the cave it must have been around 30 degrees... water was frozen on floor and walls. We had so much fun first time thru that we did it s second...

Pics from trip to Zion and Zion pics... these pictures due not do Zion justice... Zion is truely awesome, the sandstone walls are as high as 3500' above the canyon floor... we didn't get a chance to hike up to the Narrows but I'm already planning a trip out here to spend more time in Zion...

We spent the first part of the day trying to find a backroad route from CedarCity to Zion... there is none, we spent three hours exploring every two track we could find on the map and then some. Kept hitting deadends and private property signs...
