Because I'm getting ready to install a heavy duty external transmission cooler on the H2, I took the H2 to our local dealership a couple of days ago for a transmission flush, mainly to flush out the old Dextron III and replace it with Dextron VI (the vehicle has 45K miles on it and the previous owner never had the 30Kmi. service performed).
So yesterday after driving a few miles to warm the tranny up I checked the tranny fluid level and it's overfilled to the point where the level on the dipstick is about an inch above the cross hatched HOT full mark. Is it possible that this can damage the tranny in any way... blow out a seal or something? If this is nothing to worry about I would surely like to know. But it occurred to me that I could take some tubing and put it down the the filler/dipstick opening and siphon the excess fluid out. How much fluid would an inch on the dipstick represent?
BTW, taking the H2 back to the (incompetent) stealership is not an option, it's a 100mi. round trip from where I live.
