I read a review of the H3 on the Yahoo site and someone said there were no childproof locks on the rear doors. Say it isn't so!!!
Also, we have a 2 year old with twins on the way. Does anyone know if three car seats will fit on the back seat?

I've read someone'e review where they did have 3 seats in the back but it was tight. I'm not sure about the child locks..I'll have to check.

I think 3 seats back there could be pretty tight but I survived childhood without a car seat or childproff locks http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_razz.gif http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Congrats on the twins.

3 car seats should fit in the back of the H3. As for the child locks not sure...Maybe you should look into getting an H2? It will fit 3 car seats no problem and I know for sure it has the child locks http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

3 car seats...no worky to well. I tried to get 2 toddlers seats and 1 baby backward facing seat and it wouldn't work.

True, I was thinking of 3 "baby" seats.

I would just take your 3 seats to the dealer and see how they fit.

I too read about the lack of child locks on YAHOO. I asked my dealer when I bought it, and he was unsure. We looked, and could find no visible child locks. We could also not find any mention of their existence in the manual. If they exist I have been unable to find them.

There are not any child locks on the H3. The doors auto lock in Drive, but can be manually unlocked. As well only 2 car seats will fit properly. 3 can be squeezed, but the center will not secure the seat properly. The center has a drink holder which arches the back seat. You cannot connect all 3 at one time and get the proper tension on the belts. Even a single seat won't secure properly in the center. As well i survived and haven't had any issues with our 3 yr old, yet. The H2 does have room for 3 and child locks. Family trips=Armada, fun=H3.

Thank you. We're pretty excited.
Not having childproof locks is a serious omission IMHO. Maybe the 2007 will add them.

Never really think about it since I don't have any small kids but I am surpised they didn't include them.

that is odd... mine does have the child proof locks... can't imagine Dept. of Transportation enforces airbags but not child safety locks. Anyway I have a button on the door below the window controls with a car door window and an x over it that takes the two back doors off the grid.

That is a window lock so that only the driver's switches will control the windows.

Yes, that prevents the rear windows from going down when engaged. The doors will still open.

So i assume the H3 will never aquire the "soccer mom" vehichle label due to lack of saftey features..

correct me if I'm wrong... that just shuts the window controls. and it cuts for every window except driver.

I think they are asking about that little switch usually located inside the door well which you can flip to on or off. This will eliminate the door from being opened from the inside.

and... I just ran outside to check on the h3 and infact we DONT have child locks. I'm actually surprised to see this as well.

Do all vehicles doors lock when it is in gear???

We traded in our Yellow H2 for a new H3 without installing the child seats to determine fitment. BIG mistake. This was a major factor in sellign it and buying another H2. I even bought two britax booster seats (the most narrow available). With the infant Britax baby seat in place, the Britax boosters will fit. The problem comes when trying to buckle them in. After breaking a couple of nails the wife called it quits.

All H3 automatics's have the auto door lock when put into gear. I'm not sure about the manual trans.

There is a ratchet-style car seat security device on the market called a "mightytite". Here's the link:

http://www.cyberbabymall.com/mt1.html

We used this little device religiously and boy, did it work! Stopped all the cursing but not before my first picked it up http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif Ah, well!

you can change it, check somewhere in the manual, theres 3 settings:

1.doors unlock when put into park, and lock when put into gear (factor default)

2.doors lock when put into gear, and do NOT unlock when put into park

3.doors do NOT lock or unlock when put into gear or park

to change it i beleive u turn the ignition to on, w/ out the car started and hold the door lock button til it comes up in the Driver Information Center (also, check the manual because in the DIC it only says 1,2,3 and i dont know if i numbered the settings right)

I know this won't help now, but child door locks will be on 2007's. I believe they will start the middle of July.

Hah that's ironic. I just got my H3, put my kiddo on the side so he can watch dvd's straight on. I already had to press the lock button because he would roll down the windows at 70-80MPH! I figured..crap if he can reach that..the door handle isn't much further. I pulled over and looked for 15 mins in disblief there there are no kiddie locks...whoA!
