I've been considerin a flip out screen for up front in my 3 but i'm just concerned about messin up the clean interior look up front. I'd like to see some pics of screens in and out. I'm also wonderin how much of the 4x4 controls and air vents are covered up by the screens. Thanks - Jake

I have the Kenwood KVT717DVD 7" Indash Monitor in my truck. I will try to take a picture for you tonight, but it does cover up a good portion of the 4x4 controls. My recommendation would be to check out a double din unit if you are going for a clean OEM look..

here's a pic of my old set-up...switched to Kenwood Double Din 'coz waiting for the screen to flip-up got annoying...plus it crowded the dash...

Here is one with it open. I don't mind that it covers some of the controls. I like the fact that it sits up high enough without having to take my eyes off the road to look at it.

You supposed to keep your eyes on the road when driving? http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_confused.gif http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

how would it look if you mounted the flip out in the bottom with the empty pocket up top... i'm thinkin it might look a little better and not cover up so much .... which is better for game playin and movies ... double din or flip out?

I have done this to every car that I have had. I just didn't think that I wanted to mess with the H3 as it looks so nice and clean on the dash.

I have the Kenwood Excelon XXV-05V 25th anniversary edition with a Alpine center speaker mounted below the head unit. I am very happy with the finished look. The installer at Kartoons in Milwaukee made an awesome effort to make sure the radio housing would blend in nicely with the OEM dash. Thats the real difference. Have a great installer who will do a great job and you will have great results.

And with that center channel installed. I can watch and listen in 5.1 DTS and Dolby Digital with awesome clarity. The bass is killer and now my H3 is a rolling theater.

Oh by the way, Im in Bogota Colombia right now. And I wished I had my H3 here with me. There are some really killer trails down here.
Though I see them from the air from a C-130 window. So far Ive seen no H3s. I have seen two H2s so far.

Heres a shot from my hotel room.

About 10 years ago I had a job offer to go down to Bogota and work in a studio there for about a year. Wish now that I had done it just for the experience.

In Asuncion Paraguay, The capital. No Hummers!
At least not in the time that I was here I did'nt see any. I saw a lot of Land Crusiers and Pathfinders and Mistubishis and old jeeps. If there was a need for a H3, this place would be it. Narrow streets and cobblestone roads and pot holes is very abundant here. Perfect for the H3. But the people here drive loco. So it would be a toss up if you want to drive your H3 around here.
