I saw this Am General Sign at the South Bend / Michiana Air port. I was returning home from the Driving Academy, and I thought the Sign was neat.

While at the Driving Academy, I saw this Humvee, I was told it was the very frist Humvee made by Am General, they use it at the Academy and they call it the Dog.

Did you take any pics while at the driving school? I've been wanting to go but just can't find the time and money. I have seen some pics of the course that one of the service writers at the dealership took and was kind enough to share with me while I was waiting for service one day.

thanks in advance for sharing. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Any pics or vids from the academy would be great.

The dog is what they use to cut through the woods on their test land to make way for new trails.Just got back from There yesterday. The best 2 days I have spent in a long time. 2 days in an Alpha, 2 good dinners, meeting a hot chick who works for a HUMMER dealer, who could need more?

BTW they have a cut-away H1 and H2 there that are pretty bad ass to look at. I noticed the onstar was different on the H2 cut away , Im guessing it was a pre-production model

Here is the picture of the cut away H1 & H2 they are very cool to look at. Every thing on the H2 rides up on the frame, and on the H1 is rides on the side of the frame such as seats.

The Driving Academy was a Blast, I spent two days playing in the mud, my last day Wedensday, we spent the day driving on the H1 corse, I spent the day doing recovery's I was the middle truck and the other two trucks were allways getting stuck.

Ya and it was quite fun for my first time out. Thanks for all the help.

I think it would be more fun to do it with someone else's rig. Unless I'm mistaken at the driving academy you get to drive there rigs and without sounding insensitive who cares if you dig it up or berry it 3 feet deep in the mud. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif That is why I'm guessing the academy costs what it does to attend.

So did you get the GM employee discount on the driving school?

No discount on the driving school, but it would be nice to get one.

Here are some Academy pics from last year. The staff does a great job of taking lots of shots and sending them to you on a disc. Arizona Hummerboy - you should be getting a similar disc of your class in a few weeks.

When the H2's venture onto certain trails designed primarily for H1's, some of the drivers quickly learn the definition of "High Center". Yes, I would be one of those drivers and yes, that's me enjoying some "quality time" with the strap...

when I was there we had the special forces guys training too on the HMMWV. I bet the school for owners is awsome, we had to take some tests etc but it was still fun as all hell.
