For the first time yesterday I took my H2 above 50 and there was this annoying sound. It was coming from the roof area like a flapping noise of some kind. Do you guys know what it could be? Can I fix it myself or do I have to take it in to be serviced? Thanks in advance.

Is it from around the windshield? I think there is a TSB about loose moulding around the windshield.

SUT on order 12/02. 12 months down, 6 to go!

It is probably a loose molding around the windshield. Dan is right.

Has anyone had this problem with a '04 H2???
Well I had the same craking noise, specially going over 75mph, and it turn out to be the molding around the windshield...good luck finding it

I have the same noise...BUT...
At first it sounded like it was coming from the top of the windshield area...when I lean forward, it sounds like it's coming from the bottom area...maybe where the windshield wiper cowling meets the windshield area??
It's been very snowy here, so I haven't really been able to look hard.
Just wanted you to know that sound reflects inside the cabin...I thought my noise was on the roof when maybe it may be lower.
Let us know what you find and I'll do the same...

I get use to get a noise from the sunroof wind screen... Went away after installing GObi rack..

We were coming home last night from dinner, going 80MPH on the freeway, no radio, everyone is quiet from being tired and stuffed after the big buffet at the country club, I was thinking this thing is quiet, no rattle at all, not one noise, no sound, wind noise is relatively low. When going to the dinner, I suddenly noticed I was going approx. 88MPH, too fast for my usual 80MPH speed, I didn't hear it at all, no push no struggle, it just go go and go. This Hummer is smooth, very smooth.

Body - Sunroof Rattles at Highway Speeds
Notes
Bulletin No.: 03-08-67-003
Date: April 28, 2003
TECHNICAL
Subject:
Rattle In Sunroof Area at Highway Speeds
(Tighten Sunroof Wind Deflector)
Models:
2003 HUMMER H2
Condition
Some customers may comment on a rattle in the sunroof area at highway speeds.
Cause
The wind deflector screws may be coming loose.
Correction
Tighten the wind deflector screws using the following procedure.
1. Inspect the seal between the roof and the deflector. Make sure that the seal is properly in its groove along the entire front edge of the deflector for proper sealing to the roof.
2. Inspect the alignment of the sunroof wind deflector to the opening.
3. Remove one nut at a time and apply a small amount of GM Threadlocker Medium Strength-Blue, P/N 12345382 (in Canada, P/N 10953489), to the nut.
4. Carefully tighten the screws to achieve a good seal between the roof and the deflector.

I have a noise at highway speeds and have never been able to find it. It is right behind my left shoulder above my head.(a squeaking sound) I checked the bars on the roof and knobs to make sure they were tight but it has done it since I bought it last June and I am also noticing something new in the last 2 months but when I come to a stop now my brakes are starting to squeal(embarassing on a $50K plus suv) Any help on either matter??

In regards to brakes squealing what I do that seems to work is go about 50 mph and tap the brakes a few times. It works for awhile anyway.

prplprowlr, I have a rattle in the exact same location. I have tightened the rack and it didn't solve the problem. If I pop my sunroof open most of the time it stops it...anyone else?

Oops! As far as the brake squeel goes, if you are using a pressure wash on your wheels you may be washing off the lubricant on the back of the calipers. My car wash guy was doing that and I would have to re-lube them. When I threatend his life he is a lot more careful!

I definitely have the rattle too. I have previously had to tighten the luggage rack mount and the crossbars, the sunroof wind deflector also had to be tightened. This only solved part of the noises. I also have the windshield trim noise and the rear door rattle that are known about by Hummer and my front door panels rattle. I look forward to getting to take my truck to the dealer to get these fixed. Unless I want to listen to the radio loud it drives me crazy.

This sounds like a job for duct-tape-man! http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
Tape down what you think is making the noise then take it out for a spin. Take the tape off immediately afterwards or it will leave marks.
Cheers

I'd say I was moving pretty fast, and all was still quite.

H2 Bill, thanks for the advice on both of them. I will be traveling tonight and will try both fix's and see if it helps.
