Hi everybody.

I bought this baby in Georgetown, Texas about a week ago. Traded in my '98 Range Rover, so my expectations of offroad prowess were high. The H3 has completely met my expectations so far. Love the convenience of having alltime/low/high 4wd. RangeRover only had 4Low, although the crawl ratio seems to have been much higher (slower).

The wheels came with the truck, and I have no idea brand. They are 16x8 and are shod with the stock tires.

Went to Barnwell yesterday. Barnwell is a 1800-acre offroad vehicle park. It is to a dirtbike-rider/4wd-er what Vail is to a skier. Rated and marked trails and lots of informal bicep flexing with other people on the trail.

Anyways, here are the pics...

The camera diminished how steep this really was. Or maybe, my mind inflated it http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Oh no! I've left the trailer hitch on. This situation requires immediate attention, or so I thought. I'll just open the rear gate, and put the trailer hitch inside. Oh crap -- this door is heavy http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Thanks. The dealership has a painted grill, that I'm trying to get. It's so new, they don't know the price yet. Or, they are building up the suspense, so they can charge me eleventy billion dollars.

Nice. Might consider some mudflaps too. Enjoy your H3.

Yes, special order though so it takes 10 business days from when I ordered it to arrive.

Nice pics. Love those rims. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

Getting the color-matched grill will definitely complete the look. You might consider line-x if cost is an issue for the painted grill. A lot of people on here have done it and it looks great.

Thanks, guys.

Mudflaps sound good, especially after the addition of some 35" Nitto Mud Grapplers http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

$375 for a painted grill is a great deal -- I'm going to call the dealer on Monday...

I really liked the mud look, but the kids kept getting slimed when they got in/out http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif Had to wash it off http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

My understanding is that 3 diamond jeep trails are an integral part of the H3 breakin procedure http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Here is a picture of my testdrive of the car that the H3 replaced -- '98 Range Rover. This picture was taken an hour after I left the lot and about three days before I decided to buy it.

Been wanting to go to Barnwell. Maybe we can get a trip together under auspices of PhilD or someone like that. BTW, I don't know if you want people access to your family photo's. Might take a moment to learn to post to the forum without giving access to all the non-H3 related photo's of your family and all (can still go back and "edit" the links out). Just a thought since you are newbie.

That looks really nice. Good job. Get a heat gun or hair dryer and remove those H3 emblems and it will be perfect.http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Is it just me, or does it look like there's a baby on the ground next to the motorcycle helmet? SECURITY!!

H3 definitely better than Land Rover. Besides better offroad prowess, the oil spot in the driveway was beginning to look like something from the Exxon Valdez. Also, most of the controls inside didn't work http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Thanks for the link tip and posting my pictures.

Getting a group together for Barnwell would be awesome! There was only one other Hummer there. It was a white H3 surrounded by lots of toys (dirtbikes, Rv, etc). Didn't get a chance to talk to the owner.

That picture was taken after the baby had managed to commando crawl up the hill. Boy, was he pissed http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif j/k of course -- No babies here.

I don't know what kind of rims, but I'll ask the dealership. There must be something in my glovebox that tells what they are -- I hope.

The dealership wants $565 for the painted grill installed. Good news is that wife approves, because, apparently, she wants to buy something for herself that costs about the same. I'm not sure how much of that is labor, but I would install it myself.

Price sounds high for the grill. You could install it yourself and save a couple hundred bucks. A bunch of people on here have taken off their grill so you should be able to find some help with how to do it.

I believe dei just paid $375 for the color matched grill at our dealer here. If that price is correct, you are paying $190 for about 10 minutes (I think) of labor.
