I have a question about the H3 brakes. I had a 1999 Chevy Silverado Z71 and every time I would hit the brakes on a ruff road the stupid antilock system would start. This made for some very scary situations on-road and off. Other GM trucks and vans I have driven all suffered from this antilock system also. After seeing some of the videos and pictures of the trails completed with the H3 it looks to not be a problem on the H3. Are the brakes as solid and dependable was they should be or do they give out and loss stopping power when you need them most?

These brakes are awsome. This outstops my wife's ford Escape.

H3 uses a four-circuit ABS system, with a high-pressure accumulator for boost. The older pick up trucks and vans used a three-circuit ABS system, with vacuum boost.
However, due to the inherent operation of any ABS system, if the computer senses a different rotational speed of one sensor, when compared to other sensors this will cause the system to go into operation.
The secret of ABS brakes is that they will not stop you any sooner if ABS operation starts up versus non-ABS operation; the true secret is if the wheels never lock (as in ABS operation), you have full control and can steer.
The ABS system in the H3 will go into operation on gravel roads if the brakes are applied heavily and there is slippage detected, but it is very steerable, and from off-roading with vehicles equipped with ABS, it is not scary, once you get used to it.
As for paved roads, ABS has saved my a** quite a few times.

Is the ABS disabled when in 4 low or 4 low lock??
My Tacoma's ABS turned off when in low range?

Seems like the brakes are working going down steep hills with the cruise controll on?? Maybe it's just me.
