Hi,
I adjusted my right torsion bar (now maxed out) but the right side of the truck is still no level. Should this be a warranty issue? Do torsion bars 'wear out'?
Thanks,
David

Torsion bars do lose some of their spring after a while. Aside from that, I'd take it in and have it fixed. That is definitely warranty work.

did it accure to anyone to lower the side that was high?
also if the suspension has the same characteristics as the rest of GM's trucks then you could buy and up graded bar right from GM.

The torsion bar acts like the coil spring on most independent front ends. If you "lower" the other side, you are in effect lowering the spring rate.
Making changes to the torsion bars are going to effect the ride and handling to one degree or the other and I don't think you can simply replace it with a torsion bar from another model vehicle since it wasn't designed for that vehicle.

Hi,
Thanks! It's great to have other people to talk to on Hummer issues, I appreciate it.
Respectfully,
David

I understand the implications of replacing the torsion bars from the ride and roll , it would however change the ride to one degree or another just by install a new one of the same part number.
I was tring to point out if the stock replacement part wasn't doing its job you could just upgrade to the better part.
I know on the 3500 series chassie you could get heavier bars when up grading to the plow package. as far as spring rates and roll characteristics it shouldn't change that much because you haven't changed the shocks and sway bars.

You might check out Sway-Away. They have come out with some new torsion bars that are about 20-30% heavier. They have a splined end as well as a splined torsion adjuster. You can turn them 1 spline and readjust the adjuster bolt to your preference. I have increased the spring rate on the front of my H2 with air shocks and it feels like its definitely a step in the right direction. I plan on eventually changing to the Sway-Aways.
