what did u use to make those black?
arent they molded in that greyish color? meaning that if u paint it and it chips, the underlying color will be exposed?
looks good. ive wanted to do that to mine, but wasnt sure abt the issues i addressed.

I took all of the plastic parts off, and then took to the local Line-x shop. So every Grey plastic piece now has line-x on it. I also did the fenders, rock rails and the brush guard.
It looks great, I was surprised at how simply everything is put together.
However, the line-x makes it a little more complicated to re-install. I am needing to gently sand/file the bolt holes to get some of the clips to fit.
Oh well, it's taking a little bit longer than expected to reassemble, but the fit and finish still looks great!
Thanks for all of the compliments http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Did you have to take off and replace the rubber that goes around where the fender meets the body or was it left on and masked off when sprayed? And how did the fenders that are attached to the rear door come off? I was told that when you unbolt them there are two clips that still hold them on and you have to cut them and replace when putting them back on?
I would appreciate the info
Looks nice!!

Left and masked/wired when sprayed. It is secured to the fender with glue.
And how did the fenders that are attached to the rear door come off?
There are 4-5 small bolts that secure the 1/4 fender to the interior of the rear door. There are also clips that are used to secure to the exterior of the rear door. The best way to remove the clips, is to use a long pair of needle nose pliers. Pulling the fender away from the body gently, slide the pliers down and pinch the clip to release.

If you do break them, you can purchase them from Hummer. Also, the clips for the front flares will work for the back. Don't lose the rubber washers http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Air Intake...I think so. I was concerned at the amount of BRD mud inside. I cleaned and vacuumed as much as I could out of it, and changed my air filter.
I had a good laugh when I saw the horn, oh well. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Hummbebe looks great. how well does the linex hold it's color due to UV? does the weather degrade the finish?
Also, you consider doing the lower rocker section on the body, below the cut-line?
I've got an Avalanche now and would never consider getting one with out the body armor. It has saved thousands of dollars in repair to body panels. the hummer i'm purchasing is also black and will deffinately be doing this early on due to your pics. thanks.

If you go with Line-X, have them put the "epoxy" finish on it. It prevents fading.
Also, when it does eventually fade, they can retreat it with the same product and bring the Black w/luster back.
I love it, the mud comes off w/the pressure wash and looks great.....no scratches. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
I line-xed everything that was plastic, top to bottom, and also did the Brushguard and RockRails. Not shown in these pics.
Thanks for the compliment http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif I would love to see more out there, it is such a practical idea.

Did you clean all that black rock mud? Did you hear about Eric (I think that’s his name) with the H1... after the black rock run, his H1 rusted all underneath, and he's still replacing lots of parts from it?
I heard that stuff was really thick and stuck to the rig?!
HummBebe

Yes, I got as much as I could find, and yes, my under carriage had some rust. Nothing big.
The mud in the Quinn river was highly sulphuric and corrosive. I still have stains on my window rubbers, the mud left it white.
But I will have to keep an eye on it.

Looks exactly the same as when I put it together 2 1/2 months ago. I will post some pics soon though. I cranked the torsion bars too! She looks very Grrrr.
As far as supporting the fenders, line-x is very light weight, and thin. No support needed. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
