me and a buddy were discussing the rear airbags and he said that you cant remove them unless you remove the rearend and i think he has to be wrong , i cant believe it , i would think that there is some type of bolt that you remove but he says the airbag has pressure on it ( which i figured ) , we looked at the bottom and there is some type of bolt on the bottom but noway to get to it

hopefully i dont get punished for asking

I was starting to answer your question with what the hell are you talking about, but then I read it a 3rd time and realized you are reffering to the rear air springs. I thought you were talking about air bags that go off in a crash.
Tell your buddy there is a reason he doesn't fix cars for a living, and that's because he doesn't know what the hell he's talking about.
Tell him to go back to McDonalds and cook up some fries.
You can remove both rear air springs without taking the rear end out. You depressureize the rear air springs one of 2 ways. remove the air line, or with a scan tool.

so once they are depressurized they just come out or is there still some bolts that you have to take out to take the airbags out , ( just so i can explain it and so i know myself )

just remove the air line at the top of the bag. turn to disconnect the bag (works a lot like a headlight bulb). compress the bag and lift up.

pic of removed axle (not necessary to remove the bag. just removed for other reasons... http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif)
