Has anyone replaced their Monsoon deck with an aftermarket one? I've done a little searching here and there's a lot of info....mostly on the stock (non-Monsoon) setups. I know that I'll have to get an adapter to interface with onstar and to keep my chimes. Just curious as to who has actually done this....and what problems, if any....have you run into. Thanks in advance. BTW..........I'm thinking of the Alpine IVA-W200.

My dealer installed an Eclipse AVN30D Nav system that has a 4X50 watt sound system with it. They did use the interface to keep OnStar and chimes. The sound is good but not great. It goes up fairly LOUD! I'm thinking about eventually replacing the speakers and put an amp and subwoffer in there.

After doing a few monsoon systems, we have learned (the hard way!!) that the systems sound much, much better when rewired directly to the new head unit and delete the monsoon amp except for powering the sub. We just run new wires from the deck to the door speakers and all is well.

Rick,

Was the sound the same after the install? Or better? Or perhaps worse in terms of quality? What I mean is.......after the new deck was put in.....how did it compare to the stock monsoon deck.

Thanks,

I didn't really listen to the stock radio much. I just flipped through the stations briefly. I would say it's about the same or maybe a little better.
