More of Day 1, where we're still taking things easy, stepping out to take pics..

Trail was tight in places -- even for the H3..

And everyone else..

Ever seen Bebe dance? "Wheels to the left.."

"Wheels to the right..."

Did I mention TIGHT TRAIL??

Then we camped for the night, bsing around, eating great kabobs by Rocks, Chinese Chicken Salad, Korean BBQ & Coconut Mojito by my lovely angel wifey.

Then we tried to sleep.

Did I mention NorCal is COLD??

Gotta be down to 20s that night. My whole family froze our way to zombie state in our 50degree sleeping bag (whadda SoCaler know abt the cold??!), but wakeup to delicious omellettes Bebe style!

Day 2 begins. This is steep..

Really steep, esp from inside the rig..

Another steep section..

Nice scenery follows..

"Where's the H3?"

Re: Rubicon Run - 2006!!!

The rest of the never-ending day kindda blur together. Esp when we come to the long, boulder-filled obstacle that's the Big Suck Sluice, in the middle of the night..

Despite everything, I thoroughly enjoyed this obstacle. Very similar to John Bull, except you're going downhill. The night wheeling added a whole new challenge to everything -- including changing a tire (blown bead) while wedged between rocks facing downhill... Mucho thanks to Rocks, Shaggy and Randy for the help!

Re: Rubicon Run - 2006!!!

We were smarter camping day 2, by sleeping in the car (cramped, but at least you can feel your blood flowing warmly.. :D)

This is the tire we changed at 1am..

Rubicon seal..

Re: Rubicon Run - 2006!!!

Then we came across the upside down Jeep. Drty was winch point on top of the slippery slab while they turned it right side up. Then Rocks was winch point when they pulled the Jeep forward off the giant boulder it's leaning on.

Re: Rubicon Run - 2006!!!

Cadillac Hill was plenty slippery, tight, and a few tippy sections..

But plenty of beautiful scenery to calm your desperate ("is this trail ever gonna end? Are we ever getting out of here?" :D) soul..
