Rodster,
I have the Toyo 37's on stock rims. Love the result. Minor rubbing in front resolved when I put on the Fabtech HD steering components. Also had one air bag sensor connecting rod get broken by the tire on the right rear.. see pic below also view this link http://elcova.com/groupee/forums/a/t...1/m/2921015421 Overall VERY glad I went with the 37x13.5x17's nally posted by rodster: Think I just answered one of my own questions. Looking at Toyo's website it doesn't look like the 37s will fit a stock 17 rim?[/quote] |
Thanks, Jerry. That's all good news. I have the Fabtech steering components sitting here in boxes and plan to have those installed when the tires and wheels go on.
The big challenge right now is the tires -- nobody I've talked to has Toyos. Any tips on that? I'm leaning toward American Racing Mojave Teflons 18x9.5 with Toyo M/Ts 37x13.50x18. Anyone have thoughts on that combo? If I can't get the Toyos soon then I may very well go with the same size tire in the Nitto MG. Then, when the Toyos are finally available, if the Nitto noise is making me nuts, buy the Toyos. Thanks again -- Rod |
The MG's will be loud. I have the TG's and they're louder than stock, but not so bad.

Rodster
if you go with the 9.5 rims it WILL rub on the inner fender and front stabilizer bar. I was able to put the 13.5 tires on only because I kept the stock 8" rims with the factory off set. Do not try this with after market rims. Unless your never going off raod!!! <BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-title">quote:</div><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-content">Originally posted by rodster: Thanks, Jerry. Yes it will rub with the 4.5" offset, the only way you can get 37 x 13.5 tires to fit is to use the factory wheels. I'm sure the offset on factory wheel is less than that.

I'm talking 4 1/4" backspace. You, 4.5" offset. Are we on the same frequency? Also, this thread says the factory backspace is 5.5". Yup, it's official, I'm confused. |

Sorry I was working and trying to answer you at the same time.
I didn't know the factory backspacing If 5.5 is correct and you switch to 4.25 instead of the usual 4.5 that would bring the tire in closer to the frame a 1/4", probably still rub with the 13.5 tires. Also every Hummer is a little different some rub more than others with the 37 x 12.5 tire and 4.5 spacing. 4.25 would help that. I guess you just have to go to the tire store and test fit... Good Luck |
Anyone know how the Toyo MT's handle in the snow? I am thinking of going with the 37x13.50's... But wondering if I should keep the stock A/T's for the winter time, or if these would be good to leave on.
|
i have heard that they are awesome compared to the stock ats. because they are so soft.. toyo has been a sponsor of my other rides for a long time and they are usually pretty honest with me

I've had these on my wife's H2 for some time now and she loves them. No need to air them down going over the Bellevue Mall speed bumps!

Was there a final word on off-road performance? How do they do in soft dirt? We have an abundance out here...
If they're about the same noise level on the highway as stock, I think i've found me next tires.... ![]() |
Doc,
I ran out to Brown's Camp last week and tried them out on Hog's Back. Usually I need to reposition once when going up HB, but with the Toyos I walked right up and never even slipped a tire. |

I'll check tomorrow. But the Iroks are super tall. I went with the 35's because the 37's only come in a 13.50 width and those would rub like Oprah's thighs rushing to a buffet. </div></BLOCKQUOTE> Drty, are those the black HID lights? If so can you post what brand or where you got them. They look similar to these. |
