Here is a pic of a tip that I found on the web that looks lke it'd get crushed if it went off-roading.....

That's exactly what I'm talking about Seth. Those tips on the first fin on Fins and things would get crushed.
Don't get me wrong about the TIPS though. i like the the look! But for someone that really wants to off road, that's a big risk with those TIPS.

First Humper, I'm not ripping on your rig. It looks GREAT! But it's obvious that your TIPS have a good chance of getting crushed. If you are not going on more than moderate trails, you'll be just fine.

Oh, BTW-- TIPS TIPS TIPS TIPS TIPS TIPS TIPS TIPS TIPS TIPS TIPS </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

You guys are exactly correct they would get crushed. Now @#$% off.

Never said anyone was bashing it.You are rite it does come down to personal preference, but please no more about the tips its overkill.Beating dead horse. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

Damn, did someone get their feeling hurt or something?? The freakin STOCK exhaust is something of a concren to people that actually push their vehicles off-road (It actually contributed to me decision not to get an H3). And I can tell you definitively, that after spotting well over 2 dozen H3's through various terrains, that anything that hangs even a tiny bit lower wil get crushed or ripped off. It's not bashing, or harping when it is a legitimate issue for people that might ACTUALLY take their truck off-road. As Tim pointed out, the best option is to have a removable tip, the next best option is to tuck the tip at least as good as stock (more tucked would be better). Do you work for SMA or something?!! There are very few perfect products produced and this isn't one of them!

And just to ad a bit more to this post about tips....

Tips!

Hey sfox maybe you should go back and make fun of that guy praying in the 911 post you heartless puke.you ever think maybe he lost someone close thats why he is praying.I guess we cant all be extreme off roader like yourself. So go back behind your desk and put your glasses with the tape on the frames and your pocket protector and keep you opinions to yourself. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

Are you talking about the TIPS going through the bumper? The TIPS going through the bumper may heat up that bumper to where you rach into the back of your truck and burn yourself. ??? Warp the plastic? More importantly, I think they would have to cut and weld on your new exhaust. I'd take a pic to your muffler shop you have in mind and show them the exhaust and what your intentions are. ...anything is possible.

Oh yeah, TIPS

4churchill 09-15-2005 09:22 PM

we did an H2 with tips through the seides of the rear bumper. we did the bumper in steel and it did get hot as hell. the guy who had us do it was a fire-man, so we figured he could treat his own burns...looking back on it, it probably wasn't the greatest idea on the liability front

hmrlvr 09-15-2005 09:24 PM

Thankyou, I never thought about the heat factor. Thats what I was looking for, IDEAS, not a bunch of whiny opinions. Oh Yeah, TIPS

Those tips would get smashed. Let me say it again: Those tips would get smashed. Unless you like the mall parking lot.

Those TIPS are not all bad... They would sacrifice themselves to protect the paint on the trailer hitch!

Dan 09-28-2005 05:37 PM

I wonder how many decibels quieter the exhaust will be after the TIPS get pinched shut by a rock?
