Jeff, the main reason you CAN get 37s on a stock H2 is that room was left for tire chains on the stock tire. The old GM standard for tire clearance was no contact at full lock and full jounce with tire chains on the larest available tire. Over the last few years the standard has tightend up a bit after it was repetedly pointed out to engineering that if your driving in conditions that require chains, and you get your car to full lock and full jounce, a little bit of sheet metal damage is the least of your worrys.

When I first bought my H2 in '03 I got stuck in fresh snow on Fall River Road in February (idiot venture). Chains do nothing for deep snow - the issue is high centering.

Thanks for the reply. So shovel and/or winch for the deep stuff... Chains for traction on packed snow and ice (if needed).
