Don't you have a date with rock to get to? Rain in Moab today, I heard.

And since this is a (sorta) Jeep thread . . .

Painters showed up at the house yesterday in a Jeep. I always knew the jeep was smaller but dang, that's a very small vehicle.

Rodster - Little off topic but did you have to adjust your GOBI fairing so the lights would clear it? Are those Toyos?

Clearing the lights wasn't really the issue. Making sure the fairing was tight against the roof was and with that done the lights weren't an issue.

Yup, they're Toyos.

Humgirl&guy 10-09-2005 07:07 PM

Well i got looking at some of the pictures here and the wife put a post up asking what was better ......hummer or vette...... and after reading the posts i really thought that the hummer has alot more uses and would be alot of fun...as u can see im really enjoy the purchase of this awsome machine!!!

Very Nice!

Do you happen to have a side-view picture of the lights/fairing/rack? Thinking maybe I need to slide my lights forward a little.

Humgirl&guy 10-09-2005 07:37 PM

and my wife said i would be in the doghouse if i bought the corvette instead of the hummer..

No, my sensitive little flower. Just playing with your vertically challenged Hobbitness. Don't pee your pants.

Got to make sure the women knows who's wearing the pant's bro. Go out and buy yourself a Vette now too.

THANKS! I see you keep your truck very clean

Hmmmmmmm, Does your fairing bracket have a wing nut on the middle two (it holds the fairing to the L brackets)? Mine does and they are pressing against the factory sunroof fairing and holding the whole thing like an inch or more off the rack. Did you bend your L brackets at all when you installed it?

Mostly it does seem to stay that way.

<BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-title">quote:</div><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-content">Hmmmmmmm, Does your fairing bracket have a wing nut on the middle two (it holds the fairing to the L brackets)? Yup, got the wing nuts on both ends of the L brackets.

You definitely have to bend the brackets to make it all fit right. That took a lot of experimenting and getting the outboard L brackets in the correct shape so the fairing bows and also presses tight against the roof was a major PITA.

If you bend the brackets, that'll lower the trailing edge of the fairing (and in so doing get them out of the way of your lights) and will also move the mounting bolts away from your factory wind deflector.

FWIW, if it were me removing the Gobi fairing for a remount, I'd at the same time while you can, remove the factory wind deflector. With both it's impossible to clean behind the Gobi (yes, I do wash it sometimes). Best I can figure, there's no benefit to having both wind deflectors.
