Looks great! where did you get those lights (rear) and how did you wire them?

hmrlvr 10-26-2005 03:18 AM

I got it all at pep boys. I think their the same kind you have except the LED one's. The small ones were 10 each and the large ones were 13 or so. The corner ones are wired down the pillars to the tail lights. The wires for the 3 center ones run down through the tailgate to the hinge side and through the black rubber boot. They stop there as I am afraid to connect them to my tail lights until I check with an auto electric place. Considering it took me 2 hours to figure out how to post the picture, I think I should check with a professional so I don't catch fire to the H3.

If their LED's you got nothing to worry about, they draw far less power then even one regular light.

OK, the installation is complete. It took longer than I thought it would, but no wires are visible and it looks awesome. The small LED lights have a connector on the back of them so I had to not only drill holes to connect the lights but also cut a 1x1 hole for the connector to fit into behind the lights. Drilling into the truck was kinda scary, but all is well and everything is waterproof. Also, I didn't like the white on the larger corner lights so I painted them with plastic paint before the permanent install. Anyway let me know what you guys think. I past a guy in a red H3 today and he almost broke his neck trying to figure out how the lights were mounted.

Well, we're going through our first real rains here and I'm happy to say NO LEAKS from the rear marker lights. It's a good day. Nothin like a little silicone to save the day.

I like the lights. I have to say people at this forum have mad skills and great ideas and crazy knowledge. Definite get up and go they insall stuff the second it comes to there mind. Either that or I am lazy as hell. Thanks for the pics.

hmrlvr-

How difficult was it to fish the wiring down the side of the rear gate? I was peekin' at it all and was wondering if there are any obstructions in there.

tnx

hmrlvr 01-03-2006 07:58 PM

No obstructions but I did drill a hole behind each light inside the car to help feed them down. The holes are behind the plastic trim above the window so you cant see them. The hardest part was drilling into the gate.

How are the rear marker lights holding up, any problems with water, blown fuses or anything?

hmrlvr 01-13-2006 09:45 PM

No leaks as of yet. We had a couple days of hard rain (hard for LA) and all was dry inside the gate. It's gonna rain rain this weekend, I'll watch them for leaks.
