Re: Front Differential AND Driveline

To strengthen the LS1 f-body rear ends when going to 4.11's many of us used the ratech solid pinion to replace the crush collar and a diff cover with bearing supports. The problem we saw was that after a few hard launches the crush collar would compress creating slop in the pinion and eventual failure.

The H3's 4.56 ratio pinions are pretty small and there is a large lateral force created especially when in the adv low range. Couple this with some slip-and-grips and the loads get pretty high. Not sure if the ratech solid spacer and diff cover would help with the H3.

i took that out back in april , i had to out do the beebster :giggling: the 7 hour tow off the mountain ate the end up like a pencil sharpener and magnitized it , kinda looked like a porcupine :p . i kept trying to get up the stairs after the front ring gear went :OWNED: ;)

Is there an 8" or 8.25 front carrier that would work on the H3?

Even is slight modifications are necessary, that would still be better than the 7.25?

Re: Front Differential AND Driveline

It drove home fine, but when I got back I took it in a few days later cause it was making a loud clank when I put it into drive. That's when they changed the Carrier mount/bracket bushings. (Drivline forcing differential up is bad:-)

Then I picked it up and on the way to Deer Valley, I noticed when I got off the gas I would hear a "jingle bells" type sound. Sorta. It got worse and louder over the last couple of weeks, so I took it in and this is what they found. Caput!

This time they just changed the entire case and driveline.

I begged them to make sure I received a new "hardend gear" if possible.

They are also considering (99%) to extend the warranty on the front end (diff) to 100K. I'll know the final outcome of that on Friday.

Once again, HUMMER of Sacramento ROCKS!
