Re: Crappy weather warning
No rain or snow here but the wind has been terrible. I had roof damage here tonight to which the landlord had to come out and make emergency repairs. I lost a few roof tiles from underneath the deck roof. Unreal...
I don't think the H3 will do well in high winds at highway speeds - she might stay parked in the morning - yikes! :OWNED: |
Re: Crappy weather warning
Here is one for you guys. I know it's Alaska and "what do you expect" kind of stuff......
It did snow last night about 8" (which actually makes it warm here) Statement as of 9:30 am AST on December 1, 2006 ... November 2006 one of the driest and coldest in Anchorage... November of 2006 turned out to be one of the driest and coldest on record for Anchorage. A persistent weather pattern of high pressure over the Bering Sea maintained a northerly wind blowing into south central Alaska. Cold and dry air kept the sky clear. That allowed welcome sunshine during the daytime but many nights saw temperatures fall to below zero. The entire month remained at or below 32 degrees... the first time that has happened since 1973. Also of interest is that no new temperature records were set in spite of the lengthy cold spell. Precipitation fell on only a few days and was meager. On the 15th strong winds gusting to 41 mph brought a renewal of cold air to the region. At the end of the month the huge mass of Arctic air was leaving Alaska... headed for the lower 48 states. Here is how November 2006 ranked within the 90-year Anchorage record: Average temperature... ..11.9 degrees... ..Third coldest on record. 1st... ... .9.4 degrees... .1955 2nd... ... 10.1 degrees... .1990 3rd... ... 11.9 degrees... .2006 4th... ... 12.0 degrees... .1950 Precipitation... ... ... ..0.04 inch... ..Tied for second driest. 1st... ... .0.03 inch... .1921 2nd... ... .0.04 inch... .1934 ... ... .0.04 inch... .2006 3rd... ... .0.08 inch... .1985 Snowfall... ... ... ... ... .1.0 inch... ..Second least-snowiest. 1st... ... .0.9 inch... ..1995 2nd... ... .1.0 inch... ..2006 3rd... ... .1.5 inches... 1985 4th... ... .1.8 inches... 1984 Dec 06 |
