Re: Sound coming from the front end???
Have a friendly garage raise your hummer. Gently rock the hummer side ways..
the mechanic can now easily feel his way around under the hummer to feel where the sound is comig from. A guess: It is probly a loose suspension component. I had the same problem . In my case it was a loose stabilizer bar (also called sway bar). tightening the nuts will solve the problem. You will need a power tool to do this. Try to do it according to spec if possible. |

Re: Sound coming from the front end???
Ok, I FINALLY got my H3 to the Lubbock dealership yesterday. The Hummer service guy that I usually deal with was there this time (he was not there the last time I took it in for this popping noise problem). I explained to him what the problem was and he said he would like to drive it so that he could hear and feel the problem. When we got back I told him that I had been explaining my problem on this forum and that several people said that it was the body mounts and I asked him to "PLEASE" have them checked just to be sure. He gave me a loaner car and I left...around noon he called and told me that "IT WAS THE FRONT BODY MOUNTS"!!! He mentioned something about "lubing them but the problem would just come back again, so we have ordered them and are going to replace them". My 2 middle AC/Heater vents were also broke so he is going to replace those as well. He said that it would probably take a couple of days to get the parts here and installed so I am driving around a white Impala (yeah, wish I could have got an H3 instead) until then. I will post the rest of the results as soon as I get them.

Re: Sound coming from the front end???
Same here.
2007 Adventure 4200miles I lent my 3 to my brother and when I got it back it was making a weird noise. I felt like it would pop whenever the back wheels went over a bump(Speed bump, or uneaven road) and turning also. However you guys are saying urs all stems from the frontend. It sucks cause I feel like a wheel is going to pop-off, Im getting really nervous. Next week I get out of school, and then I have to take it to the dealer. on a positive note, do u think the dealer would give me an h2 loaner? I want to destroy a 2 |
Re: Sound coming from the front end???
Just got mine from the stealer, could not duplicate..
It's a Hummer thing, so there you go. |
Re: Sound coming from the front end???
I just got back from Lubbock with my H3....they fixed the air vents and replaced the front body mounts...the service guy said that the front body mounts were "improperly installed" and that is was caused them to fail...anyway, I didn't really get any more info than that.
I tested it out on the way home and no more popping/grinding sound!!! Just wanted to post this in case anyone else has this problem...my service guy said that they have not had any other cases like this ohter than mine...hope my problem is fixed for good. Angela |
