Re: H3 wont start. Stay tuned
Hi All,
I'm new to the forum but have experienced intermittent starting problems as previously described. It's taken a little while to work out as the dealer couldn't replicate it or find any codes on the onboard computer. However, after trial and error I have found the engine immobilizer to be the culprit (If it won't start leave it for ten minutes and try again). According to the dealer this is a completely separate system so doesn't show up when they run normal diagnostics. Next time the engine fails to start, check whether the padlock symbol is flashing on the dash. Jd |

Thank you |
Re: H3 wont start. Stay tuned
Well the dealer had my H3 yesterday and found a loose connector to the immobilizer unit behind the dash. A bit of contact cleaner, refit and re-program and all is well, allegedly. If I have any more problems I will let you know.

I heard nobody walks in LA, but I'm curious about the outcome too.

LOL .. you guys are too much. I don't think anyone walks in DOWNTOWN LA, except during M-F daytime business hours, but that's downtown LA. No one goes there unless they work there. But, everywheres else ... allllll of the beach cities: Malibu, Santa Monica, Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach, Redondo Beach, Palos Verdes, Long Beach .. all are a walkers/runners/bikers (bicycles) paradise, every day of the year. You're right, though .. Stagger hasn't given us an update. |
Re: H3 wont start. Stay tuned
Iv had this probelm before. I parked my truch for a football game and when I came back it wouldnt start. I knew it wasent battery because the lights of the car were on so I jiggled the fuel pump fuse. Got back in the car, turned the key, gave it a little gas just to be sure, and off I went. Never had a problem since.

Sorry I kind of lost this thread. First off I went to Tustin Hummer instead of Cerritos, and was a night and day experience. Super cool people, and great service. After we couldn't reproduce the problem, and found no codes, I told him that someone mentioned ignition position sensor or something. He pulled and replaced the whole ignition at the column no questions asked. So I haven't had a problem sense. He did also check fuel system delivery and all that, but said was an unlikely problem because it wouldn't even turn over. HE also checked starter relay and solenoid, and said it was a brand new starter just replaced 6 months ago at a different dealership.
Unlike the last Cerritos guy who told me my VIN # didn't fall into the "problem head" range which I knew to be false, Tustin confirmed I was in the problem range and I have not had a head replacement done yet. He checked compression and everything checked out fine. He also said he would work with me to get a discount on my extended warranty when I buy that because I fell within that range of problem VIN #. Whatever happens from here, who knows, but at least I left there feeling good about Hummer. I am taking it back this week to get the AC vents fixed, flaps are broke, and 2 new tire sensors and a faulty valve stem (yeah he actually pulled the tires and checked the sensors). Good people though. Go there if youre local to So Cal, Tustin Hummer! :clapping: :beerchug: |
