Re: Dragonskin Body Armor
Dragonskin might work, I hope it does.
In order to meet the criteria it has to work in rain, cold, heat and sun, and resist a variety of chemicals, over a period of years. They already know ceramic plates work, they are heavy and hot, but they have been proven to stop rifle velocity projectiles. Hopefully Dragonskin or something similar is the future, but only if it is proven to work. |

Many have already seen this, but the ceramic plates worked. He was shot with a Russian sniper rifle.
He survived and the towel heads were caught by members of the soldiers own platoon. http://www.ifilm.com/video/2675852 |

Re: Dragonskin Body Armor
Drty
I have worn vests for years. A couple of years ago it came out that the vests everyone was wearing might not work after exposure to light and perspiration. I took mine off right then and there and went and shot it (I have several of them). The bullets went right through. It was an eye opener! Half an hour before, I had been counting on it to protect me. I hope NBC is fair, but I don't expect a balanced long term viewpoint from them. The media doesn't always do their homework correctly. Whether it's Dragonskin or not, I want the politicians sitting safely in their offices to put gear that works in the hands of those doing the job! If Dragonskin can protect these guys, and do it after prolonged exposure, they ought to have it. |
Re: Dragonskin Body Armor
That Brig. Gen. in charge of body armor is a douche.

Re: Dragonskin Body Armor
At 7:16 am this morning the NBC Today show aired a 6 minute report about DragonSkin.
In "LIMITED" testing with unbias observers including a retired U. S. Army General the DragonSkin totally OUTPROFORMED the current U. S. Army body armor. It was an impressive report and they do say the testing was not under all types of test conditions... But it makes you think.... |
Re: Dragonskin Body Armor
I didn't know that body protection was standard issue in the US Millitery, I know it isnt for our guys in the UK. there have been so many deaths becouse of shortages of equipment. even one case of a guy who was told to give his armour to someone else who was supposedly in a higher risk possition and was then killed by a sniper within 48hrs of giving it up.

I hate to say it but the FREE WORLDS MILITARIES need to be increased in size and better outfitted. AND when threat levels drop, which one day they will, we still need to maintain their size and technology updating. OUR problem is that everytime the world calms down for a short period of time we decrease our Military Rediness, which winds up hurting us a little time later... Vote for me for PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES and I will maintain and update the military, possibly reinstate the draft, get federal money into the pockets of law enforcement, fire fighters and CLASSROOM teachers in the U.S. I will increase taxes a little. I will END ILLEGAL IMMAGRATION, for countries that don't want U.S. help I will make sure they don't get it... I will POUR money into oil independence research and DEMAND results from those doing the research. I will increase nucular power in the U.S. MORE TO COME>>>>>>> |

The piece they did on Special Report on Fox News yesterday convinced me that NCB's special was so misleadingly designed to unfairly attack the current administration as to be worthless. Fox had current and former military personnel on exlpaining how the current military armor is better than Dragonskin for stopping 7.62 mm impacts and for hot environoments like Iraq, and how it is lighter and more comfortable in hot places, etc ... |
